Each of Manchester United’s last three permanent managers have lost their first league meeting with Manchester City in charge of the club (David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho).

Alex Ferguson was the last to win his first Manchester derby, 2-0 in March 1987.

  5. Aguero looks to match Henry recordpublished at 19:43 British Summer Time 24 April 2019

Sergio Aguero is one short of becoming the second player to score at least 20 Premier League goals in six different seasons, emulating Alan Shearer - who did so in seven campaigns.

Aguero could also become the second player, after Thierry Henry, to achieve this feat in five consecutive seasons.

The Argenine has scored four Premier League goals at Old Trafford. Only Steven Gerrard, with five, has netted more as a visiting player.

  6. City are flyingpublished at 19:40 British Summer Time 24 April 2019

Manchester City have won 10 successive Premier League fixtures, their longest streak since a top-flight record run of 18 between August and December 2017.

They are guaranteed to be Premier League champions if they win their final four matches, which would make them the first team to finish a top-flight campaign with 14 successive victories.

City need just one more goal to match their own record of goals scored in all competitions in a top-flight season - 156 in 2013-14.

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane on Sky Sports: "These are the same players that threw Jose Mourinho under the bus and they will do exactly the same to Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer].

"Leopards do not change their spots. There are too many bluffers at the club to get Manchester United back to the top.

"The very fact that we are talking about United trying to finish fourth tells you about how the standards at the club have dropped at the club on and off the pitch.

"It’s not up to the manager to motivate the players. You have to motivate yourself. At Manchester United you have to be up for every game. The fact that Ole has had to talk about it in the days afterwards, he must be hugely embarrassed."

More from Manchester City cult hero Shaun Goater on BBC Radio 5 Live:

"Manchester United have some quality players and one or two great players. If you go back a month when they were really flowing, playing as a cohesive team but when you talk about it player for player Manchester City are just way ahead.

"I’m keen to see what United do tactically. They had a great game against Paris St-Germain, had a bit of luck but I’m keen to see how they get on against City."

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on whether he can take the club forward: "I would like to say yes but it is not down to me to say that.

"Of course, I am confident in my team and myself.

"I am ready to take this challenge on. I know it is a big challenge. That is why I came. I don't like losing but it is a great challenge.

"But when you have bad results you have to be confident enough to say this is the way we are going to do it."

Nice to see Solskjaer is going for it tonight at HOME with 5 at the back! He really is Mourinho in disguise! He was a abject failure at Cardiff and a yes man at old Trafford for as long as he lasts which won't be to long

Craig Windram: As a Mancunian and a season ticket holder since 1967 I would like to clarify the following. I utterly despise in the following order - Manchester City, Liverpool, Leeds United. However, the day I put another club's failure in front of our own success is the day I no longer want to watch football.

Alan, Ellesmere Port: I've been a United fan for 50 years but tonight I hope Old Trafford turns blue. Let's forget 4th place, start building for the future and have a clear-out, starting with Pogba. Come on City

Phil: Born and bred in Moston, Man Utd in my blood, absolutely no chance I’d want United to throw tonight’s game. The rivalry for me is bigger with City than anyone else, come on you Reds!

Manchester City have won five of their past seven Premier League fixtures at Old Trafford (D1, L1), having triumphed in only one of the first 14 visits.

A seventh away win for City would set a new Premier League record for overall wins at Old Trafford by a visiting club. They are currently tied with Chelsea on six victories.

    'I support Solskjaer' - Guardiola

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is amazed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's pre-derby warning to his Manchester United players that they should be ready to be kicked at Old Trafford.

Yesterday Solskjaer said: "There will be fouls. They will snap at your ankles and heels and kick you."

But Guardiola replied: "Did he say that? With 65% or 70% possession, how do we do that?

"I don't like it. My side is not built like that, not at all."

City are thought to be bemused at United letting Solskjaer speak about the issue, mainly because the statistics do not back up the Norwegian's view.
