Well, I said it wouldn't end goalless and I was, not for the first time, incorrect.

A game of few chances ended level at Hillsborough as the Owls remained unbeaten under Steve Bruce.

We'll be back with more EFL action tomorrow night when floundering Derby will look to get their Championship play-off push back on track against Wigan.

Thanks for your company and enjoy the rest of your evening.

  3. Owls had 'best chance', says Hectorpublished at 21:43 Greenwich Mean Time 4 March 2019

FT: Sheff Wed 0-0 Sheff Utd

Sheffield Wednesday defender Michael Hector told Sky Sports: "We had the best chance of the game through Sam Hutchinson.

(On whether the visitors should have had a penalty when Gary Madine went down under pressure from him in the first half): "It was coming together, I don't think it was a penalty.

"We're a lot more solid since Steve Bruce came in and we're defending much better than before."

    And indeed it is.

It won't go down as a classic and it ends with a result neither team will have wanted.

The Blades went closest in the first half through striker Gary Madine and the hosts had the best chance of the second half when Sam Hutchinson fired straight at Dean Henderson when well placed.

Sheffield United remain third in the table.

This result would really suit the top two in the Championship as well as the big pack of teams chasing sixth place.

Blades boss Chris Wilder said he was not scared to lose this game but will he throw caution to the wind in the final few minutes?

The hosts are living on their nerves a little here as Blades win a couple of corners and then a free-kick in an attacking area.

John Egan throws himself at another delivery into the box but again Michael Hector is on hand to clear away for the Owls. He's been excellent tonight.

All gone a bit quiet again since that Sam Hutchinson chance for the hosts.

The whole game has been fiercely contested but we're yet to see any real moments of individual quality.

Heading into the final 20 minutes at Hillsborough.

As in the first half, there's been one big chance of note, Sam Hutchinson shooting straight at Blades goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

Can someone make themselves a derby hero tonight?

    The hosts should lead!

Rolando Aarons plays a low ball into the box and Sam Hutchinson is only eight yards out but, on the stretch, fires straight at Blades keeper Dean Henderson.

    Massive chance.

Another free-kick to Sheffield Wednesday and this time Barry Bannan tries a clever ball down the side.

Except it's underhit and easily cleared away. Owls boss Steve Bruce will have HATED that.

Nearly a huge mistake by Wednesday defender Tom Lees.

He heads a deep ball back to goalkeeper Keiren Westwood but Blades striker Billy Sharp reads it and nearly nips in before the Irish goalkeeper.
