Another Sheffield Wednesday free-kick, this time for a Chris Basham foul on Rolando Aarons, is cleared by the Blades and they charge down the other end.

However, the Owls' defenders get back in numbers and clear it away for a corner.

Down the other end the Blades link up nicely down their right before Oliver Norwood's shot from the edge of the area flashes across goal.

Nice open start to this half.

Well, that would have been something!

George Boyd hangs up a cross into the Blades area and Steven Fletcher goes for a spectacular overhead kick.

It goes high into the stand but the Scot has recent form for those, having scored a beauty against Swansea last week.

The Owls get us back under way.

They've made a change at the break, with George Boyd coming on for Fernando Forestieri.

We're moments away from the start of the second half.

Can Sheffield United get the win to take them back to second or will Sheffield Wednesday get the points they need to keep their play-off hopes alive or, whisper it, are we looking at a third straight goalless draw in the Steel City derby?

    No, they can not.

It's been tight, it's been tough and it's been... not terribly exciting so far.

Only one chance of note, that Gary Madine header for the Blades well saved by Owls keeper Keiren Westwood in the opening five minutes.

Madine later felt he should have had a penalty for some holding by Wednesday defender Michael Hector but, much to his annoyance, the referee did not agree.

We'll end the half with three minutes of injury time.

Can anyone get a pivotal opener in those minutes?

Again it was Barry Bannan on set piece duty and again the visitors compete and clear.

Owls midfielder Rolando Aarons eventually has a shot charged down.

The only effort on target so far this game remains that Gary Madine header for the Blades after four minutes.

Big clash of heads in the middle of the park as Blades midfielder Kieran Dowell knocks Sam Hutchinson to the ground.

The former is getting some treatment but the free-kick will be for the hosts.

John Fleck's corner is poor and the hosts easily get it away but it's the visitors who are looking the more likely in the last few minutes.

The Blades win a free-kick on the Wednesday left after a poor tackle by Liam Palmer on Kieran Dowell.

Oliver Norwood sends the ball into the area with pace and it's headed away for a corner.

Barry Bannan goes for a more lofted effort on his latest free-kick but the end result is the same.

The visitors will be pleased with how well they have dealt with the Scotsman's deliveries so far this evening.

The Blades are enjoying couple of minutes of possession at the moment.

It's been as even as the scoreline suggests so far but, and I might be tempting fate here, I don't see it ending goalless as it did earlier this season.

Still no real goalmouth action since this Gary Madine chance just four minutes in.

Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Keiren Westwood denied the former Owls striker what would have been a huge early goal.

Adam Reach has a swing at it after the visitors half clear a deep Barry Bannan free-kick... Let's just leave it at that. 0-0.

Wednesday win another corner after some fine work by Rolando Aarons.

Barry Bannan's hanging effort causes a bit more consternation on this occasion but the Blades eventually get it away.

The hosts just about shading it so far.

  20. Postpublished at 18 mins

    Sheff Wed 0-0 Sheff Utd

Wednesday forward Fernando Forestieri is chopped down by Oliver Norwood 35 yards from goal.

Barry Bannan is on duty again and again the visitors clear with relative ease.
