    Reading 0-0 Leeds United

Early stages at the Madejski Stadium where Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa has taken up his usual seat on his trusty dugout bucket.

He's named an unchanged starting line-up for the fifth game in a row.

Nothing much in way of goalmouth action so far.

  6. KICK-OFFpublished at 20:02 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2019

We're off and running in our two 20:00 GMT games in the Championship.

Will Leeds win at Reading to end the night back on top of the table? Can struggling Bolton beat Steve Bruce's Owls?

    We're about to find out.

    Lee JohnsonImage source, Rex Features

Just under 15 minutes played at Ashton Gate where it's bottom-placed Ipswich who have started the brighter with skipper Luke Chambers just flashing a near-post header from a corner wide.

Some concern for Bristol City boss Lee Johnson on the touchline?

    Sheffield United 0-0 Brentford

John Fleck gets time and space outside the Brentford box and the Sheffield United midfielder blasts a long rang effort just wide.

  9. League One latestpublished at 20:00 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2019

By stark contrast - a few early goals in tonight's League One fixtures.

Play-off contenders Charlton are ahead at home against Burton courtesy of Lyle Taylor's penalty. Coventry lead Fleetwood thanks to Amadou Bakayoko's strike while Southend scored first this evening at Scunthorpe thanks to Simon Cox.

Freddie Ladapo has also opened the scoring for Plymouth at home to Shrewsbury.

Portsmouth have just taken the lead at Walsall through a Brett Pitman penalty, a man probably only starting this evening after Ronan Curtis' unfortunate injury (see 19:33 GMT).

No goals as yet for either leaders Luton at struggling Bradford City or in the meeting of the two promotion contenders Barnsley and Sunderland at Oakwell.

    Paul LambertImage source, Rex Features

Ipswich need nothing less than a win to keep their very slim survival hopes alive.

Town boss Paul Lambert has included six academy graduates in his squad tonight, including two players whose fathers also played for the club in midfielder Andre Dozzell and substitute goalkeeper Harry Wright. I'm sure Jason and Richard will be watching on proudly.

  14. Postpublished at 19:51 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2019

    Sheffield United 0-0 Brentford

Sheffield United have started brightly, trying to get into the Brentford box, but no big efforts after five minutes.

Top scorer Billy Sharp, who has WWE star Mick Foley watching him tonight, is only on the bench.

  15. Postpublished at 19:49 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2019

    Bristol City 0-0 Ipswich Town

Early action in this one where Bristol City debutant goalkeeper Stefan Marinovic is almost completely embarrassed.

He takes his time over a back pass and nearly loses control of it in his own penalty box where Ipswich striker Kayden Jackson was chasing it down.

Thankfully for Marinovic the ball deflects behind for a corner that comes to nothing.

High-flying Sheffield United need a win to keep in touch with the top sides - will the Blades get past Brentford?

Leeds United have the chance to knock Norwich City off the summit this evening if they can beat Reading.

Sheffield United in third will hope the Royals can extend their recent upturn in form to three successive wins and allow them to jump up to second should they win at home against Brentford.

No other side in the top six is in action tonight but a even a draw for seventh-placed Bristol City would see them push Derby County out of the play-off picture, for tonight at least.

Billy Sharp's Mr Socko celebrationImage source, Rex Features

Football throws up some weird and wonderful stories. Exhibit A - wrestling legend Mick Foley will be a guest of honour at Sheffield United v Brentford tonight.

Captain Billy Sharp's "Mr Socko" celebration at Norwich in January has led to an unlikely alliance between the Blades' top scorer and Foley - who won the WWE title in the guise of Mankind 20 years ago.

Foley was even round at Sharp's for breakfast this morning... but the striker is only on the bench!

Bristol City v Ipswich (19:45 GMT)

Bristol City are the dictionary definition of a streaky side.

Since winning nine consecutive matches in all competitions, they have failed to win any of their last five games (D1 L4).

Tonight they face an Ipswich side who helped end a similar barren run of four straight defeats back in November when Lee Johnson's team twice came from behind to win 3-2 at Portman Road.

A return to winning ways for the hosts would also ensure their return to the top six after Derby jumped above them on Saturday.

Realistically, Ipswich need the footballing equivalent of snookers if they're to avoid dropping to the third tier of English football for the first time since 1957.

Paul Lambert's side may well have proved the undoing for Darren Moore when they drew 1-1 at West Brom on Saturday, but the Tractor Boys are still 12 points plus a terrible goal difference away from safety.

    Bottom of ChampionshipImage source, .

A few potential twists in the relegation dogfight on the cards this evening.

Reading have given their survival chances a huge shot in the arm after back-to-back wins against Ipswich and Wigan to move three points clear of the bottom three. As mentioned, it's second-placed Leeds at home for them tonight.

Level on points are Wigan, who will hope to put that dramatic defeat at the Madejski Stadium behind them as they travel to Blackburn.

Bolton know that if they can pick up a second win in four days it would dramatically improve their fight against the drop.

Ipswich, well, they're still in with a mathematical chance of survival....
