    Republic of Ireland 1-0 Georgia

That goal will surely settle Ireland down now. They have been far superior and you wouldn't bet against them scoring a few more.

  2. Morata squeezes Spain aheadpublished at 20:25 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2019

Malta's half on a heat map would be burning.

Spain are camped inside the half, the hosts might need to devise an Alcatraz-style plan to escape...

...and then a breakthrough! Alvaro Morata is the man who makes it just after the half an hour mark.

The Atletico Madrid striker takes a ball forward on his thigh, seemingly too wide of the goal, only to squeeze in from a tight angle.

Spain lead 1-0. Expect a few more...

    England U21s 0-1 Germany U21s

Germany's youngsters continue to play good football. This time, it's Nadiem Amiri with a perfectly-weighted pass through the middle which splits open England's defence.

Striker Luca Waldschmidt gets on the end of it and fires a shot which hits the outside of the right post.

    Conor Hourihane

    What timing!

With the first kick after that protest Conor Hourihane curls in a delightful free-kick from the edge of the box. He bends it powerfully around the side of the wall with his left foot into the left side of the goal.

Delight for Mick McCarthy as he punches the air in celebration. That's Hourihane's first goal for Ireland.

We've got a lengthy pause while the tennis balls are kicked from the pitch.

Remember this is a protest against John Delaney.

Delaney stepped down as FAI chief executive on Saturday but was moved to the position of executive vice-president.

  7. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:20 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2019

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Georgia

Boos from the home fans. A big sigh of relief from the Georgia players. David McGoldrick spins Georgia Guram Kashia on the edge of the box and is brought down.

The Ireland supporters want a red card but the referee only produces yellow.

That's probably right. There was a defender coming across to cover.

  8. Italy lead against Liechtensteinpublished at 20:19 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2019

Italy are ahead against Liechtenstein in Group J. Sassuolo midfielder Stefano Sensi with the goal - a header from a corner. The Italians got their qualifying campaign off to a winning start on Saturday against Finland and are firm favourites to make it two wins out of two tonight.

The referee has stopped an infringement by an Ireland player. He blows for a Georgian free-kick and that releases the pressure.

Mick McCarthy is deep in conversation with his assistant Robbie Keane. How Mick would love to have a striker of Keane's quality out there.

You can see from the Georgian heatmap (right) that they are starting to come under pressure in their area. They have been pushed further back as the half goes on and the Republic are starting to control possession in midfield.

    Mahmoud Dahoud

Germany's pressure tells. This is a really good goal. Mahmoud Dahoud takes the ball down on his chest before shooting early across Dean Henderson with his right foot into the far corner from the edge of the box.

Should he have been closed down quicker? Probably.

Georgia's Davit Khotcholava is struggling with an injury. For a second time he drops to the turf, this time clutching his hamstring.

After a bit of treatment he comes back on but if that is a hamstring issue then I'd be telling Ireland's players to target his side of defence straightaway.

  14. Goalless between Spain and Maltapublished at 20:09 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2019

Plenty of youthful exuberance from a Spain side containing six players aged 24 or under - but little quality in the final third as yet.

Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul scams his way into some space inside the Malta box, but scoops a left-footed shot over the bar. Not good, man.

    England U21s 0-0 Germany U21s

Germany are well on top now. England's defence is looking a little shaky. Florian Neuhaus skins Kieran Dowell but then shoots into the side netting.

Germany U21s are managed by former international Stefan Kuntz, by the way. He scored Germany's goal in the Euro 96 semi-final against England.

Thankfully there'll be no penalties tonight.

  16. YELLOW CARDpublished at 16 mins

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Georgia

The Republic are knocking on the door. Georgia captain Jaba Kankava is booked after he sliced down the charging James McClean on the left side of the box.

Ireland cut the resulting free-kick back to the edge of the penalty box to Robbie Brady but the Burnley winger shoots over the bar.

Germany's youngsters can certainly play. This looks like it'll be an entertaining game on the south coast. The visitors have knocked it around nicely and now Mainz youngster Levin Oztunali has a shot blocked.

  18. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:00 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2019

    Morocco 0-0 Argentina

    No Messi, no party.

The sort of half where you'd be grumbling even if you'd been given a freebie of a ticket.

If fact the only people happy watching it would be insomniacs. They'd be away within seconds.

Barely a shot on target for either side.

  19. CLOSE!published at 11 mins

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Georgia

    Big chance for Ireland!

They steal it 40 yards from goal with some high pressure and Conor Hourihane is there charging in on goal.

Robbie Brady is free to his right and is screaming for a squared ball but the midfielder goes on his own and sees his shot saved.

Ireland look to have settled into this qualifier. Jeff Hendrick is getting up closest to David McGoldrick in attack.

Robbie Brady is playing on the right wing and shoots wide from the edge of the box. Better from the hosts.
