    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Georgia

Georgia striker Giorgi Kvilitaia looks a 'big presence' up front. He takes a goal kick down on his chest but fails to link with his midfield to launch an attack. It's the away side on the front foot early on.

Just four of Ireland's starting XI play in the English top-flight. The rest all play in the Football League.

It's a shame that two of their best two players are both right-backs in Seamus Coleman and Matt Doherty.

Coleman is captain so it is no surprise he has been preferred. Is that the right choice? Doherty has been impressive this season for Wolves.

Either this Ireland fan nipped for a quick hit before making their way to the Aviva Stadium or they've come well prepared for the protest.

Of course that is Bournemouth's Dominic Solanke, not Liverpool's as I said earlier.

Euro 2020 qualifiers: McCarthy says protests would not help Republic

It's fair to say Mick McCarthy does not want the protest to go ahead.

"If they have to demonstrate about anything then do it somewhere else and at another time," he said at his pre-match press conference.

"I can't do anything about it. I'm not going to take a tennis racquet with me.

"I've been at games, I was at Charlton when people have done it - it's not going to help us play any better, that's for sure. So I hope that's not the case.

"They want us to win by giving us the best chance - [they can do that] by getting behind us and not having any outside influences affecting us."

There could be protests at the Aviva Stadium tonight.

It has been reported Ireland fans are set to demonstrate in response to the FAI creating a new role for John Delaney.

Delaney stepped down as chief executive on Saturday but was moved to the position of executive vice-president.

He had come under pressure when it was revealed he had provided a 100,000 euro (£85,000) cheque in April 2017 to the FAI, which did not appear in its audited accounts.

Delaney, a former vice-president of the Olympic Council of Ireland, said he had loaned his employers the money "to aid a very short-term cash flow issue".

It is said the protest could involve Republic fans throwing tennis balls on to the pitch during the qualifier.

    Morocco 0-0 Argentina

Lionel Messi's return for Argentina after a self-imposed exile was, well, messy.

The Barcelona superstar, who missed six internationals after retiring following defeat by eventual winners France at the 2018 World Cup, was injured in a 3-1 defeat by Venezuela.

Messi, 31, finished the match but felt pain in his groin and will sit out tonight's friendly against Morocco - which has just kicked off in Tangier.

Argentina are without the likes of Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero and Chelsea counterpart Gonzalo Higuain as new boss Lionel Scaloni - once of West Ham infamy - bloods younger players.

Watford's Roberto Pereyra is a Premier League-based player who does start, while the line is led by Juventus' Paulo Dybala and Inter Milan youngster Lautaro Martínez.

  20. Luis Enrique misses Spain matchpublished at 19:06 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2019

Spain will be without their manager Luis Enrique for tonight's Euro 2020 qualifier in Malta.

The former Barcelona boss has travelled back home due to "a family matter of the utmost urgency".

"We ask for discretion and respect for his privacy," the Spanish Football Federation added.

Luis Enrique's assistant Robert Moreno will take charge of the team - which shows eight changes from Saturday's narrow in over Norway.

Skipper Sergio Ramos, forward Marco Asensio and striker Alvaro Morata keep their places, with Chelsea keeper Kepa among the incoming players.
