  2. Gers fans vastly outnumberedpublished at 11:10 British Summer Time 31 March 2019

    Celtic v Rangers (12:00)

Home advantage has always been significant in this fixture but is it more of a factor now that the number of visiting fans has been slashed?

There will only be around 800 Rangers supporters inside Celtic Park today; a drastic drop from the 7,000 or so that had been the norm until this season's tit-for-tat policy.

Both of the prior meetings this term were 1-0 home wins and both were much more one-sided than the slender margin suggests.

  3. 'If any in my squad don't fancy it, they are at the wrong club'published at 11:05 British Summer Time 31 March 2019

    Celtic v Rangers (12:00)

With 59,000 home fans making a din, Celtic Park could feel like a lonely place for Rangers players but manager Steven Gerrard is asking his men to embrace the hostile environment.

"Of course the atmosphere is going to be good and it's all going to be with Celtic, and every cheer, every throw-in, every tackle is going to be on their side," he said at Friday's media conference.

"But Celtic had to put up with it when they came to our place. It's life, that's not going to change, we expect that. But you have got to thrive in that. It's got to excite you.

"If any in my squad are fearing that or don't fancy it, they are at the wrong club. We need players that are going to really put their shoulders back and front that, and fancy it. I'd be so excited by it if I was a player."

  4. Celtic can 'hammer' home advantagepublished at 11:02 British Summer Time 31 March 2019

    Celtic v Rangers (12:00)

Speaking to the media on Friday, Celtic boss Neil Lennon said a home win today "would be hammer blow" to Rangers before quickly adding "but again, not insurmountable" - and spoiling a good headline.

"The objective is to win the game whenever we play our nearest rivals so that is not going to change and the mindset will be, 'we are at home and take the game to Rangers at every opportunity'," he added.

  5. Tierney fit to start, Rangers go with winning formulapublished at 10:57 British Summer Time 31 March 2019

    Celtic v Rangers (12:00)

Kieran Tierney makes it for Celtic after missing out for Scotland, while Dedryck Boyata returns to the centre of defence.

There's a first appearance of the year for Olivier Ntcham and Jonny Hayes gets a rare start in place of Scott Sinclair, which is something of a surprise.

Tom Rogic, so often the scourge of Rangers, is on the bench having not played since Boxing Day.

Rangers welcome back midfielders Ryan Jack and Scott Arfield from injury and pick the same XI that won the derby at Ibrox on 29 December.

Left-back Borna Barisic was injured while away with Croatia.

  7. Gerrard seeks extra finance over the summerpublished at 10:51 British Summer Time 31 March 2019

    Celtic v Rangers (12:00)

To have a sniff of derailing Celtic's title procession, Rangers really need a win this afternoon and to follow that with another post-split triumph in the next derby at Ibrox. Even then, it would require another couple of slips from the champions and a perfect run-in for Steven Gerrard's men.

The visiting manager is more likely looking to lay down a marker for next season and he's already thinking ahead as is evidenced by this morning's newspaper headlines, where is asking for increased spending power.

"The reality is, when you've built your cake, you need a lovely icing on it and a bit of decoration that will hopefully make a difference," he says. "That costs money. That's the brutal truth of it."

  8. Celtic on the home straight for eightpublished at 10:49 British Summer Time 31 March 2019

    Celtic v Rangers (12:00)

With Celtic 10 points clear at the top, a home win today would all but seal an eighth successive Premiership crown, with just seven games remaining.

The champions are undefeated on their own patch in the league this season, winning 14 and drawing once, conceding a mere five goals along the way.

It's a beautiful spring day in Glasgow; clear blue skies with barely a breath of wind. Perfect for a quiet, contemplative stroll. Alternatively, you could get involved in the uproarious clamour of an Old Firm derby as Premiership leaders Celtic host closest challengers Rangers.

Celtic are a long way in front, so this really is a last chance for the visitors to make the title race interesting.
