From Coventry's 5-4 win at Sunderland, to a relegation, a promotion, late drama at Bramall Lane and then tonight's gripping win for Leeds, it's been a classic Saturday in the English Football League.

Leeds are now in pole position to take the second automatic promotion place after that win over Sheffield Wednesday in the Yorkshire derby.

Marcelo Bielsa's side know that 10 more points will get them over the line.

But although Sheffield United slipped up today, it would be wrong to write them out of it just yet.

The biggest winners? Probably Norwich who need a maximum of seven points from their remaining five games, starting at Wigan tomorrow.

There was joy and despair in the EFL this afternoon as the first promotion and relegation in the three divisions were decided.

Congratulations to Lincoln City, who clinched promotion from League Two, as a home draw with Cheltenham, coupled with a draw for Mansfield and defeat for MK Dons, was enough to see them over the line.

And they will be playing Ipswich Town in League One next season after the Tractor Boys' relegation from the Championship was confirmed.

Paul Lambert's side needed to beat Birmingham City to stand any chance of staying up but could only manage a 1-1 draw.

Preston were outclassed by West Brom today but their boss, Alex Neil, remains heavily linked to the vacant manager role at the Hawthorns. Neil told BBC Radio Lancashire:

"I know people have been speaking about speculation and I certainly felt that got to the players today.

"Disappointing for us, we’re a really young squad and I think it shows. Not just making decisions on the pitch but also it became a little bit of a pantomime before the game.

"I actually saw it in (the players’) eyes before the match and that’s the disappointing thing. It’s not my doing but it has affected them and it’s affected our fans which I apologised for. And for that it makes me really frustrated."

Aston Villa are on quite a run at the moment, they've now won their last eight on the bounce.

Villa supporters may have been a tad nervous this morning with the news that Jack Grealish was out with an illness. But boss Dean Smith has just told BBC WM he wasn't worried.

"I thought (the result was) fully deserved. The only thing missing was we should've scored far more goals.

"Jack's just ill, he had a fever. When I spoke to him this morning he was devastated. He couldn't even go upstairs to take a shower.

"Hopefully the monkey is off our back now, we've got a win without Jack Grealish in the team."

Let's briefly recap on some of this afternoon's key EFL stories, including an eighth straight win for Aston Villa...

While Leeds celebrate a massive win, that result leaves Steve Bruce's Sheffield Wednesday 10th, six points off the play-off places.

And they've played a game more than sixth-placed Bristol City, who they host on Easter Monday.

It's not impossible, but the Owls face a really, really tough task now to reach the top six. Next up, they're away to Norwich...

Leeds' Kalvin Phillips adds to Sky Sports:

"It's massive. We tried not to listen to the Sheffield United score but it was everywhere.

"We still had to go out and do our job and we did that today.

"Results like this, you've got to enjoy it, but we'll keep our heads on and hopefully we'll get over the finish line."

Leeds goalscorer Jack Harrison tells Sky Sports:

"It's fantastic to score in a game like this, when the pressure's high.

"We were just knocking on the door, throughout the game.

"We can't get too [far] ahead of ourselves. We have to keep ourselves level-headed."

Jack Harrison eventually found a way through for Leeds after a dominant performance.

It's a second win in a row for Leeds, coming as their promotion rivals Sheffield United draw two games in a row.

The Whites go second, three points above the Blades and only three points behind leaders Norwich, who play tomorrow.

Leeds get the win! They've capitalised on Sheffield United's draw earlier today.

It's advantage Leeds again.

Now Wednesday have bodies forward and they're launching the ball in to the box.

There are 30 seconds left.

Leeds continue to try and seal the win with a second goal, but Kemar Roofe scuffs a shot wide.

There'll be a minimum of four minutes added on.

Leeds fans breathe a huge sigh of relief! This is Wednesday's best moment of the second half.

Good work down the right from Fernando Forestieri sets up Liam Palmer for a cross which is flicked on by George Boyd but drops wide, and as it comes back in to the mixer, Forestieri's shot is blocked and then the Owls hit the side-netting through Marco Matias.

If it stays like this, few people could say it wouldn't be a fair result.

In the first half, Owls keeper Keiren Westwood made several good saves, including a quite brilliant stop to keep out Tyler Roberts' 13th-minute header.

That one was a contender for save of the season.
