Brilliantly timed block there by Chris Mepham!

The Cherries man sticks a leg out before Nathan Redmond could trouble Artur Boruc from eight yards out.

That was a good chance for the Saints.

Christian Benteke starts again for Palace looking to score in back-to-back games for the first time since April 2017 after scoring in Palace’s 3-2 win over Arsenal last week. And he’s had lots of support from his team mates. Captain Luka Milijovevic writes in his programme notes how pleased he was to see Benteke hit the back of the net again.

“I am so pleased for Christian that he performed against Arsenal the way he did because he deserves it so much. When footballers don’t play, sometimes they don’t care but that is not Christian, he is a guy who cares every single day about football and I love to see that from my team-mates.”

Scott Parker wants that job. The better Fulham can end this season, the better for him.

Cardiff have been the better team this season, but for Fulham with no pressure, they could just freewheel and play well.

The weather at Craven Cottage is befitting of Cardiff’s situation. A bit grim, but could improve quite significantly by the end of the afternoon.

Interestingly, Neil Warnock has never won at this ground as a manager. His coaching staff (and there are plenty of them) are currently overseeing a vigorous pre-match warm-up.

If Cardiff win here, it really would put some immense pressure on Brighton later.

Scotland winger Ryan Fraser, who has 12 assists in the league this season, misses today's game with a calf injury he picked up in training yesterday.

"We're doing our best to try and protect Ryan today," said Cherries boss Eddie Howe.

Troy Deeney scored a dramatic equaliser at the end of normal time in Watford's FA Cup semi final win v Wolves three weeks ago, but he's suspended today after his sending off v Arsenal. A relief potentially for Raul Jimenez - with Deeney criticising the Mexican for donning a mask in celebration of Wolves' second goal in that win - and his programme notes here are interesting today too:

"What I said about the mask I stand by, and it was interesting to hear a few others give their take on it. Not all of them agreed with me on it and that's good for football.

"And when I have an opinion there's often a camera pointed at me. You don't need to agree with me, but I always ask everyone to respect everyone's right to have that opinion and give voice to it."

Fulham v Cardiff City (15:00 BST)

    Alistair Bruce-Ball
    BBC Radio 5 live commentator

This is a great opportunity for Cardiff. If you look at what they've done in pressure games this season, they are unbeaten in their seven games against the bottom five teams.

When they have needed to win the games, they have won. Neil Warnock will have them fired up today and if they do win, that heaps the pressure on Brighton.

Fulham v Cardiff City (15:00 BST)

    Steve Bower
    Match of the Day commentator

It's 'now or never' time for Cardiff, a scenario no-one envisaged them even being in back in August.

The odds are still stacked against Neil Warnock's side but a win at Craven Cottage would keep hopes alive and also increase the pressure on Brighton kicking off later at home to Newcastle. Chris Hughton's team would then be out of the drop zone only on goal difference by the time they began at the Amex.

The Bluebirds won't be short on effort or spirit but have they got the goals in them to pull it off?

They face a Fulham side who have belatedly come to life with back-to-back wins and successive clean sheets, momentum that Scott Parker will be determined for them to maintain.

  15. Can Wolves win ease FA Cup pain?published at 14:42 British Summer Time 27 April 2019

    Watford v Wolves (15:00 BST)

    Kelly Somers
    Final Score at Vicarage Road

There may be an intriguing title race and battle to avoid the drop going on in the Premier League, but there’s also a very interesting tussle going on for 7th.

Watford and Wolves have been two of the surprise packages of the season, and despite Watford narrowly running out winners in the recent FA Cup semi-final there has been little to separate them this season - just one point as it stands in fact.

You can feel the tension in the air at Vicarage Road - Watford are keen to do the league double and record their third win of the season over the newly promoted side. And while Nuno Espírito Santo says he won’t be blinded by revenge, a win here would surely go a long way to easing the pain of that semi-final defeat just 20 days ago.

  17. 'This could be another cracker'published at 14:38 British Summer Time 27 April 2019

    Watford v Wolves (15:00 BST)

    Vicki Sparks
    BBC TV

The heartbreak of that FA Cup semi-final defeat by Watford at Wembley still lingers for Wolves.

Here, then, is a chance to exact some revenge in the hotly-contested race for seventh place - which, unless Watford win the Cup, would bring European football next season, something neither of these clubs have tasted since the 1980s.

Regardless of how it ends, it has been a stellar campaign from both sides.

They've comfortably broken their record Premier League points tallies, playing some golden football along the way - and if both attacks are on form, this could be another cracker.

    Southampton v Bournemouth (15:00 BST)

    Simon Brotherton
    Commentator on BBC TV

Southampton will be safe with two games to spare if they better Cardiff's result this weekend, while a win would realistically be enough because of a much better goal difference.

Either way, I'm sure Ralph Hasenhuttl would have gladly taken that scenario when he took over in early December with a brief to keep them up.

Saints were in the bottom three at the time and their record of 28 points from 20 matches since then equates to 53 points over a full season. That's usually good enough for a top-half finish.

Who knows what we'll get from Bournemouth, who in the last two games followed a 5-0 away win at Brighton by becoming the first team to lose at home to Fulham all season.

  20. 'They will make life difficult for them'published at 14:33 British Summer Time 27 April 2019
