That's it from the Amex, as Arsenal emphatically clinch the WSL title in front of a record crowd by winning 4-0 at Brighton - hardly a bad way to win your first title in seven years.

It was never really in doubt this afternoon, Vivianne Miedema scoring early, Katie McCabe adding a second before the break and then Beth Mead and Danielle Van de Donk getting on the scoresheet after half-time.

So it's the Gunners who'll be the team to beat in the WSL next season. But could they be up against the European champions? Chelsea's Champions League semi-final second leg with Lyon is under way and you can follow the live text commentary here.

To remind you, a new record crowd for the WSL era has watched this game at the Amex Stadium today.

England forward Beth Mead and Arsenal's star striker Vivienne Miedema have been speaking to BT Sport, and unsurprisingly they're pretty happy.

"It's hard to describe right now but it's been a long time coming - everyone's ecstatic. Joe says we've had a lot of ups and downs as a group with injuries and things like that so enjoy the moment." said Mead, who scored a stunning third goal.

"It opened up for me, I hit it and luckily it went in! I can't say much more than that!"

Miedema - who scored the opener - added: "I came to Arsenal to win the league but I don't think I've realised what we've done yet.

"I'm happy we've done it and we've done it with a 4-0 win. Joe changed a lot when he came in so he has to take a lot of credit but more than anything he really made us believe in ourselves."

So Arsenal are the champions of England for the 15th time, and the third time in the WSL era. They first lifted the old top-flight title in the Women's Premier League in 1993, managed by the legendary Vic Akers, who would go on to guide them to a quadruple of trophies in 2007.

But Joe Montemurro's masterminded their first title since 2012.

Utterly, utterly emphatic from Arsenal and they are the WSL champions.Vivienne Miedema's stunning 20-yard strike that went in off the bar sent them on their way, then she played in Katie McCabe before half-time and Beth Mead's 30-yard rocket made absolutely sure after the break. Danielle van de Donk added some extra gloss late on.What a way to do it!

Danielle van de Donk almost has her second and Arsenal's fifth but Brighton keeper Marie Hourihan races out to smother her shot at the edge of the box.

The Gunners aren't coasting yet. They want more goals!

Just prior to that stunner from Beth Mead, the attendance was announced at the Amex.

It's a WSL record of 5,265 - beating the previous mark of 5,052 in a match between Arsenal and Chelsea at Emirates Stadium in 2012.

That crowd is around 10 times bigger than Albion's average gate when they play at Crawley Town's Broadfield Stadium. Superb.

Arsenal have their first real sight of goal this half. Vivianne Miedema starts the move by collecting the ball deep in midfield and then getting it back a few passes later. Eventually it comes to Katie McCabe on the left side of the box but she takes too long to get her shot away and it's well blocked.

Albion have been superb since half-time but from an Arsenal perspective they've come through that spell unscathed are now just half-an-hour from being crowned champions.

You have to go back to 2012 for the last time that happened, but that title was the last of nine straight years the Gunners finished top of the pile.

Katie McCabe has just cut Aileen Whelan in half with a scything tackle - how the Arsenal player's avoided a booking I will never know.

The resulting free-kick is then hit high into the box and after a half-clearance the ball is looped back in. It evades everyone and nearly creeps inside Sari van Veenendaal's far post but the Arsenal keeper scrambles across to deny Danielle Buet a goal.

Albion look more of a threat since the break. Aileen Whelan with a couple of give-and-go passes and then a nice floated pass to the back post.

Unfortunately substitute Ellie Brazil can't make good enough contact and slashes her effort wide.

Brighton boss Hope Powell will be delighted with this response.
