It's been the footballing equivalent of trying to read your favourite Sunday newspaper as you career down a flume at The Time Capsule.
Goalless at Easter Road, after a frenetic first half lit up by Jake Mulraney's magical run and shot but still looking for a bit of magic to break the deadlock.
Hibernian 0-0 Hearts
Hibs adopt the aerial route as a number of balls into the Hearts area are repelled by the visitors - including a goal-line clearance by Christophe Berra - before the ball drops to Darren McGregor a few yards out... but he blazes over!
McGregor's blushes are spared as eagle-eyed referee Craig Thomson spots a foul inside the area and blows his whistle.
Hibernian 0-0 Hearts
What a goal that would've been. Jake Mulraney bamboozles a slew of Hibs players with a magical, slaloming run from midfield.
He then fires a rasping drive at goal but the flying Ofir Marciano soars through the Edinburgh sky to deny Mulraney the opening goal.

Quote MessageEver since Bobby Zlamal rolled him that bad pass he [John Souttar] has gone to pieces. Hearts have been the master of their own downfall. Souttar's rattled.

Dary Horgan threads a great ball through for Florian Kamberi to slice through the Hearts defence. The Hibs man is off and running, with designs on getting a free effort on goal.
Hearts captain Christophe Berra, however, has other ideas. He floats over to nullify the Hibs attack.
Hibernian 0-0 Hearts
Here come Hibs... a ball into the Hearts penalty area causes fear and alarm in Hearts' ranks. Daryl Horgan guides an effort at goal but Bobby Zlamal produces a prodigious mitt to swat the ball over the bar.
We're lacking a goal but not much else at Easter Road.
Hibernian 0-0 Hearts
Blood, thunder and whatever else is associated with the Edinburgh derby has been on display in the opening half-hour at Easter Road.
Hearts are stretching Hibs down the flanks without getting sufficient efforts on target.
The hosts have yet to find their feet in an attacking sense and are struggling to establish rhythm to their passing.

Quote MessageThere was no malice in it [from Uche Ikpeazu] but it looked like a terrible tackle. If you’re lunging in from 10 yard you're going to pick up a yellow
Hibernian 0-0 Hearts
You can't do that, big fella. Hearts striker Uche Ikpeazu is booked for cleaning out Darren McGregor. The Hibs fans are up in arms; McGregor dusts himself down and gets to his feet.
Referee Craig Thomson enters the fray to brandish the yellow card with an almost operatic flourish.
Hibernian 0-0 Hearts
The frenetic derby pace relents for a minute or so as Daryl Horgan requires treatment for a knock. Then the madness resumes in the sunshine.
What the first half has lacked in quality it's more than made up for in endeavour and intensity.

Like Rocky and Apollo Creed sizing one another up, both sides are trying to find their range before landing a punch in the form of an opening goal.
Arnaud Djoum sees his goalbound shot deflected for a corner. However, the visitors fail to profit.
It remains goalless as we approach the 20-minute mark of a frantic, open and captivating Edinburgh derby.

Quote MessageI’m impressed with Harry Cochrane. He shows a lot of composure. The question is having been out with injury can he keep up that intensity?

A flicker of a chance for Hibs. Stephane Omeonga pounces on a John Souttar mistake but Bobby Zlamal forces Omeonga wide as Hearts recover at the expense of a corner.
BBC Sportsound pundit John Hughes has some advice for a jittery Souttar in the Hearts defence. "Just calm doon!"
