    Leeds United 0-0 Aston Villa

There's a long old wait to get things going again as Jack Grealish receives treatment after that challenge.

Liam Cooper is still having words with the referee to plead his case but finally, on we go.

John McGinn nearly weaves his way into the box and gets a low strike in on goal but it's easy-pickings for Kiko Casilla.

  2. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21 mins

    Leeds United 0-0 Aston Villa

Second yellow card to a Leeds player as Liam Cooper goes into Stuart Attwell's book.

A big lunging challenge on Jack Grealish sees the Villa midfielder grounded, but Cooper definitely had a case there that he'd won the ball.

The home fans are not happy.

  3. Postpublished at 20 mins

    Leeds United 0-0 Aston Villa

Patrick Bamford with half a sniff of a header on goal for Leeds as Pablo Hernandez picks him out with a cross from the right.

But Villa are again organised at the back and that's an easy pick up for Jed Steer in goal.

    Leeds United 0-0 Aston Villa

Leeds again with some nice build-up, but Villa with a decent shape to force them wide and under pressure before making the final ball count.

The home fans are still in fine voice, despite a quiet opening to this game.

  5. YELLOW CARDpublished at 14 mins

    Leeds United 0-0 Aston Villa

Cynical trip by Pablo Hernandez on Andre Green gets him a yellow card as he ensures there's no chance of a Villa breakaway.

Green's pace looked a threat as he won a 50/50 on the halfway line.

  6. Postpublished at 13 mins

    Leeds United 0-0 Aston Villa

Ambitious effort from Mateusz Klich as the ball breaks to him after Villa half clear a free-kick.

No trouble there for Jed Steer in Villa's goal as it sails well wide.

  7. Postpublished at 10 mins

    Leeds United 0-0 Aston Villa

Bit of an escape for Villa as Pablo Hernandez loses his footing inside their area as the ball takes a slight deflection off Axel Tuanzabe.

The Leeds striker may well have been in on goal there had he not had to turn so suddenly.

The hosts then scuff a good opening as the ball falls to Jack Harrison on the edge of the box but he mistimes an attempted half-volley.

Better from Leeds as they finally see a bit of the ball.

But Villa are organised at the back to break up the play on the edge of their own penalty box.

  9. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Leeds United 0-0 Aston Villa

Tyrone Mings with a surging and swerving run to the Leeds penalty box and he goes down in the area.

Stuart Attwell immediately waves away any penalty appeal and Mings himself didn't actually appeal so on we go...

  10. Postpublished at 3 mins

    Leeds United 0-0 Aston Villa

More early Villa pressure as this time Andre Green provides the cross from the right for Jonathan Kodjia.

The striker can't stick a header on target this time as Pontus Jansson does enough to put him off.

    Leeds United 0-0 Aston Villa

Lively start for Villa down the left as Anwar El Ghazi pings a cross over towards Andre Green arriving in the box.

He can't direct his header on goal and might be a bit disappointed with that.

  13. KICK-OFFpublished at 1 min

    Elland RoadImage source, rex

Fifth-placed Villa are looking to extend their run of 10 straight wins this afternoon at Elland Road, which is already a club record.

One more victory would match the best run in the second tier in the same season since Jean Tigana's Fulham won 11 consecutive second-tier matches in 2000-01.

Leeds however are on a terrible run at the worst possible stage.

Back-to-back defeats over the Easter weekend left them virtually done and dusted for automatic promotion and Bielsa's boys have in fact lost four of their past seven league games.

Can they at least take the race for second in theory down to the last day and deny Villa a record-breaking afternoon?

  20. A warm-up for Wembley?published at 11:47 British Summer Time 28 April 2019

Leeds United v Aston Villa (12:00 BST)

Wins for Norwich and Sheffield United yesterday saw the Canaries promoted and the Blades simply waiting for the formalities.

Chris Wilder's side are six points above Leeds with a far superior goal difference.

If Leeds beat Villa 6-0 or something stupid this lunchtime, then I guess they're still in with a shout of automatic promotion, but it's almost certain to be the play-offs for Marcelo Bielsa's men.

Villa are already guaranteed a play-off spot. The two could well meet in the play-off final at Wembley on 27 May.
