Forest Green 1-0 Tranmere (1-1 agg)

A good breakaway from the hosts ends with striker Christian Doidge miscontrolling in the Tranmere area.

The visitors have been rocked by that early goal that has levelled the tie up.

Can Forest Green capitalise and get a second?

  2. YELLOW CARDpublished at 16 mins

    The free-kick is beyond everyone.

    Joseph Mills

    Well, that'll do.

The hosts win a free-kick just into the Tranmere half and Joseph Mills gets away from his marker to head past Scott Davies.

Davies won't want to see that back.

Forest Green 0-0 Tranmere (0-1 agg)

The visitors have probably settled the better so far, enjoying a few spells of possession, albeit brief ones.

Forest Green boss Mark Cooper said they would be approaching the game as if it were "still 0-0" (a classic shout from every game of Sunday League football ever played) but he'll want to see his team play more on the front foot.

What about on a Monday? Well, Tranmere centre-back Emmanuel Monthe hasn't had too much to worry about so far.

There was also an inflatable melon inadvertently thrown onto the pitch just after kick-off, presumably in honour of the visitors' manager...

*Pedantry fans will no doubt have noticed the rogue apostrophe in 'Sunday's'.

  6. Postpublished at 5 mins

Forest Green 0-0 Tranmere (0-1 agg)

Forest Green win the first corner of the night after the visitors head a Joseph Mills cross out, but it comes to nothing.

A fairly cagey opening, it'd be fair to say.

  7. Postpublished at 2 mins

Forest Green 0-0 Tranmere (0-1 agg)

Quick early bit of housekeeping here, there are no away goals in the play-offs.

If we're level on aggregate after 90 minutes then it's extra-time and if we're still level after that it'll be penalties.

If Forest Green fans wanted a rallying call before one of the biggest matches in the club's history, they need look no further than the back of the match programme.

"Now lies the chance of something great - the small club on the hill rising even higher."

It would be some achievement if the Gloucestershire side, in just their second ever season in the EFL, go up to the third tier.

Five days and seven games in and we've already had our first penalty shoot-out of this season's play-offs.

Newport County beat Mansfield Town on spot-kicks to confirm their place at Wembley in the League Two play-off final on Saturday, 25 May.

But, who will they be playing?

Tranmere hold a slender advantage over Forest Green, who played for 75 minutes with 10 men after Gavin Gunning's red card, courtesy of a superb strike from Ollie Banks.

Micky Mellon's men are looking for a return to League One after five seasons away while Mark Cooper is trying to lead his side into the third tier for the first time ever.

Good evening and welcome to live text coverage of the second leg of the League Two play-off semi-final between Forest Green and Tranmere.
