  • Everton kept eight clean sheets in their last 10 games

    Tottenham 1-0 Everton

A far cry from Wednesday's emotions, Mauricio Pochettino is sat down with arms folded and wearing a rather serious look on his face given Tottenham are all but secure in their top-four spot.

He'll be confused as to how his side haven't won this already though, and Everton are finishing the first half the stronger.

No end product from the Toffees so far, but there's been some nice play between Lucas Digne and Bernard down the left especially.

  2. Postpublished at 39 mins

    Tottenham 1-0 Everton

    A half-chance for Michael Keane.

Lucas Digne takes a free-kick close to the halfway line and floats the ball in to the penalty area, Keane rises highest but can't direct his header towards goal.

Moments later Gylfi Sigurdsson tests Hugo Lloris from the edge of the box but it's comfortable for the Spurs goalkeeper.

There's certainly plenty of appreciation around the stadium for former Tottenham man Sigurdsson.

    Tottenham 1-0 Everton

Lucas Moura can do no wrong today, everything he does is cheered by the home crowd as if he's added to his tally of goals for the week.

Dele Alli tries his luck from range, he hits it well enough but his attempt flies a few metres wide.

  4. CLOSE!published at 31 mins

    Tottenham 1-0 Everton

I say Everton are doing better, but Tottenham have really taken their foot off the gas.

That's a great chance for Everton to equalise, as Bernard cuts in from the left and shoots low towards the near corner.

Hugo Lloris is on his toes however, and does well to react in time to prevent it sneaking in.

    Tottenham 1-0 Everton

Everton are pushing further up the pitch now, but Spurs look far more comfortable in defence than the Toffees have.

Much better from the visitors in the last few minutes, but they are yet to trouble Hugo Lloris.

This is probably quite kind to Everton (right), but it gives you a sense of what this game has been like so far...

    Tottenham 1-0 Everton

It's taken them a while, but Everton have managed a first sighting of the Tottenham goal.

It's Theo Walcott with the chance, but he can't get behind the ball and his tame effort is gathered by Hugo Lloris.

  9. CLOSE!published at 13 mins

    Tottenham 1-0 Everton

Tottenham come again as Dele Alli runs at the Everton defence.

The England midfielder tees it up for Fernando Llorente on the edge of the penalty area but his effort rises slightly too high despite looking like it might catch Jordan Pickford out.

    Offside!

Moussa Sissoko draws a great save from Jordan Pickford after Fernando Llorente's shot falls kindly after striking Michael Keane, but the Tottenham midfielder was marginally offside.

It's relentless from the hosts so far, Everton are all over the place.

    Tottenham 1-0 Everton

Tottenham need just one point to remain out of reach of Arsenal and confirm a fourth consecutive top-four finish, but there's no sense they're going to try and settle for that today.

Everton yet to wake up as Lucas Moura fires well over from range.

    It's we've-already-gone-on-holiday defending from Everton.

They can't deal with the ball into the box and it falls kindly for Eric Dier who has plenty of time to poke the ball past Jordan Pickford.

Easy as you like, just three minutes in.

Cenk Tosun takes Lucas Moura down and that has NOT gone down well with the home support.

Spurs are knocking the ball around nicely and setting the early tempo with a couple of minutes gone.

    Match of the Day commentator

I was lucky enough to commentate on Lucas Moura's December goal in Barcelona. It kept Tottenham in the Champions League. Who could have foreseen then the drama of the Etihad or Amsterdam? Wonderful!

The memory that will stay with me forever? Mauricio Pochettino sinking to his knees in tears.

"Those who do not weep, do not see," wrote Victor Hugo. Pochettino had the vision all along.

Former Tottenham goalkeeper Brad Friedel knows football. He told me within weeks of Mauricio arriving at Spurs that he would completely transform the club. He has.

But there is immediate work to be done. A point is needed to make sure of a top-four place. That's crucial. And wouldn't in-form Everton love to end their season beating a Champions League finalist.

The teams are in the tunnel, and there's a seriously motivational countdown playing over the speakers at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

There's no final day feeling at the minute. I'll be ready to run on and play if this continues.

Mauricio Pochettino makes five changes to the Tottenham side that produced a stunning comeback against Ajax on Wednesday to reach their first Champions League final.

Kieran Trippier, Jan Vertonghen, Danny Rose, Victor Wanyama, and Son Heung-min all drop out, to be replaced in the starting line-up by Kyle Walker-Peters, Eric Dier, Ben Davies, Erik Lamela and Fernando Llorente.

Everton boss Marco Silva makes three changes to his team, as the Toffees look to maintain their strong finish to the campaign.

Seamus Coleman, Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin make way for Yerry Mina, Theo Walcott and Cenk Tosun.

Tottenham pair Juan Foyth and Son Heung-min begin three-match domestic bans, with a club appeal against the Korean's red card rejected by the FA.

Jan Vertonghen misses out with an ankle injury, while Danny Rose and Victor Wanyama are doubts because of respective hamstring and thigh issues.

Everton forward Richarlison is unavailable because of a rib injury, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin is also out.

Andre Gomes is back after a ban but Seamus Coleman is a fitness concern.

  19. What a week it's been...published at 14:47 British Summer Time 12 May 2019

    Tottenham v Everton (15:00 BST)

It's been quite a week of football so far, and though this game isn't one of the two matches that the eyes of the world will be fixed on this afternoon, it's still a fairly tasty game to end the 2018-19 campaign with.

Tottenham produced something truly special on Wednesday, but we'll have to see if they're boosted by that today or stuck in a dream-like state.

Everton are ending Marco Silva's first season in charge in rather promising fashion, winning five of their last seven while keeping eight clean sheets in their last 10 games.

    Bring it on.
