A wonderful pass from Digne, from halfway inside his own half, finds Bernard on the left flank. He cuts inside, shifts it onto his right foot and then shoots to Foster's right and just inside the post.
The keeper should have done better there, but Everton have looked pumped up from the word 'go'.

The hosts win another corner, which Digne sends across. Richarlison gets up to and heads it of a Watford body for another corner, which Troy Deeney clears, But Gylfi Sigurddson then wins it back and is fouled, giving Everton a free kick 25 yards out...

The corner scoots across the box, and eventually lands back with Lucas Digne, who sends a low shot a couple of feet wide of the left post.

Defence became Everton's biggest strength last season, conceding just seven goals in their last 11 games. In fact, they haven't conceded at home since 6 February.
A clean sheet in last week's goalless draw at Palace was a solid, if unspectacular, start for them but Watford were truly rocked by Brighton, thumped 3-0 in front of their own fans.
It was their first opening day defeat since 2006 and is such a contrast to last season when they won their first four in a row.
Javi Gracia needs a quick response but Watford's lousy record at Goodison Park hardly inspires optimism.
