  8. 'Frank encapsulates everything which is great about club'published at 12:32 British Summer Time 4 July 2019

#bbcfootball or text 81111 (UK only, names on texts please!)

I think if last season taught us anything, it's that trophies and a good season on paper are not what makes fans happy. For so long at Chelsea, there has been a huge disconnect between the fans and the team, a feeling encapsulated by the ambivalence towards Sarri after what many would consider a 'successful' season. If trophies are the be all and end all, then in theory City, Liverpool and Chelsea would be the only PL clubs with a happy fan base. But this isn't the case. I almost didn't watch the Europa League final, because a success and excitement are different things. Fans want to feel proud of their club and Chelsea fans want to get that connection back, and feel excited when Chelsea play. Frank encapsulates everything which is great about club, and regardless of results, I cannot wait.

    Joss, excited Chelsea fan

I'll back Frank as a fan, but concerned about what seems to be a lack of direction and ambition at the top. We've gone from a former Napoli manager to a former Derby manager. We appealed a transfer ban, but didn't ask to freeze it while we appealed. Stadium talk has gone very quiet. It all makes me a bit uneasy.

    Luke

It's way too early for Lampard. Derby squeezed into the play off places and finished in the same place as the year before even with the 'wonder kids' from Chelsea. Tired of hearing what an exceptional year he had at Derby. The style of football was much improved but some woeful team choices particularly for the play off final.

  14. Perez joins Leicesterpublished at 12:08 British Summer Time 4 July 2019

    Ayoze Perez signs for Leicester

Newcastle United striker Ayoze Perez has signed for Leicester City for £30m on a four-year deal.

Perez, 25, leaves St James' Park after five years. The Spaniard was the club's top scorer in 2018-19 with 12 goals.

He is Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers' second signing of the summer, following the arrival of defender James Justin from Luton Town.

Perez, who was bought from Tenerife for £1.5m in June 2014, scored 48 times in 195 appearances for Newcastle.

The Magpies are currently without a manager following the departure of Rafael Benitez at the end of June for Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang.
