    Livingston 0-0 Motherwell

Not much happening at the Toni Macaroni Arena. Keaghan Jacobs shoots wide for Livingston and that's about as close as either team have come. "Give me a shot on target," pleads BBC Scotland summariser Allan Preston.

    Hibernian 0-0 St Mirren

St Mirren fans getting their first glimpse of Ilkay Durmus will be enjoying what they're seeing so far.

The new signing has been a menace up the left and his latest burst up the flank culminates in a stinging shot that brings a fantastic save from Ofir Marciano at full stretch.

  6. goal

Caley Thistle hit back against the Championship favourites, Tom Walsh equalising.

  7. CLOSE!published at 15:29 British Summer Time 3 August 2019

    Hibernian 0-0 St Mirren

Big chance for St Mirren to take the lead in Leith. Paul McGinn bursts into the box to reach a lovely through ball, but Paul Hanlon tracks him all the way to slide and deflect his shot wide.

Hibs have been pretty sloppy in this first half and the Buddies are looking largely untroubled.

  8. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 15:29 British Summer Time 3 August 2019

    Ross County 0-0 Hamilton Academical

Another penalty claim against Hamilton as Aaron McGowan clears from inside the penalty area. BBC pundit Billy Dodds contends that this is now the problem with hand ball as penalties "are being given willy nilly".

  9. goal

GOAL Celtic 3-0 St Johnstonepublished at 15:29 British Summer Time 3 August 2019

    Ryan Christie

Ryan Christie doubles his tally for the day but this one is all down to a howler from Saints keeper Zander Clark.

Christie hits a first-time effort from outside the area that looks simple enough for the man between the sticks but it somehow goes through Clark. Shocker from the keeper.

Dundee United 1-0 Inverness Caledonian Thistle

    Jane Lewis
    BBC Sport Scotland at Tannadice

A new league season, a new club, but it’s the same old Lawrence Shankland as Dundee United look the part here against ICT. Shankland the goal-scorer, but the likes of Louis Appere, Nicky Clark and Sam Stanton are playing some lovely stuff in the middle of the pitch and out-wide.

While United are enjoying the passing game, Caley Thistle are more about the long ball. It’s not having the desired effect just yet, but this one is enjoyable to watch.

  11. goal

GOAL Celtic 2-0 St Johnstonepublished at 15:25 British Summer Time 3 August 2019

    Ryan Christie

Wow. It's 2-0 to the champions and that scoreline doesn't even start to reflect the gulf in class here.

James Forrest cuts in from the right and lays the ball into the path of Ryan Christie, who casually strokes a wonderful left-foot effort into the top corner from 20 yards.

  12. Both teams using new rulespublished at 15:21 British Summer Time 3 August 2019

    Livingston 0-0 Motherwell

    Allan Preston
    BBC Scotland summariser on Sportsound

One of the new rules they've brought in is that teams can start the game within their own box with goal kicks - and both teams here are doing that. Still no chances though.

First yellow card goes to Motherwell summer signing Christian Ilic, who has had a few heavy challenges and has absolutely clattered Keaghan Jacobs.

  13. Sitting Buddies frustrating Hibspublished at 15:17 British Summer Time 3 August 2019

    Hibernian 0-0 St Mirren

Chances at both ends in Leith as Hibs break down the left and Flo Kamberi tees up Joe Newell, who can't quite get a shot away from close range.

Then St Mirren mount their first meaningful foray of the afternoon, new signing Ilkay Durnus scampering up the left and drawing a comfortable save from Ofir Marciano.

Hibs are having a lot of the ball, but their distribution is slack and St Mirren are gobbling up the loose passes with little trouble.

  14. Physical start in Livingstonpublished at 15:17 British Summer Time 3 August 2019

    Livingston 0-0 Motherwell

    Alasdair Lamont
BBC Sport Scotland at Tony Macaroni Arena

The early indications are that this is going to be a tousy affair. There have been a lot of fouls in the opening stages as both sides look to stamp their physical presence on proceedings.

  15. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 15:16 British Summer Time 3 August 2019

    Ross County 0-0 Hamilton Academical

County players appeal in vain for a penalty at a corner with the hosts convinced the ball has struck the arm of Alex Gogic, but referee Alan Newlands is having none of it.

  16. CLOSE!published at 15:16 British Summer Time 3 August 2019

    Celtic 1-0 St Johnstone

This is a very good period for the hosts, with Mbombo Bolingoli charging down the left before sending in a delightful delivery that Odsonne Edouard nods narrowly past the post, with the aid of a slight deflection.

    The corner comes to nothing.

They really have the bit between their teeth right now, attacking with pace and purpose. It's a good sight but something St Johnstone would rather not be seeing
