Daniel James thought he was signing for Leeds in January.

It's like a Man Utd home game in Perth.

Man Utd v Leeds Utd (12:00 BST)

Both teams have lined up on the pitch and there's some bemused looks as there's now a traditional show of music and dance going on.

You don't see this at Elland Road on a Saturday afternoon...

  7. Postpublished at 12:02 British Summer Time 17 July 2019

Man Utd v Leeds Utd (12:00 BST)

    Late kick-off in Perth!

Both teams have only just emerged from the tunnel.

I'm not sure I've heard so much noise for a pre-season friendly. What an atmosphere!

  8. 'Local lad who understands the fans'published at 12:02 British Summer Time 17 July 2019

    Kevin Nolan
Former West Ham captain on BBC Radio 5 Live

Newcastle have lost probably three of their top players in Salomon Rondon, Ayoze Perez and Mohamed Diame. This is where the worry is. Is Steve Bruce going to get what they received from the sale of Perez? I’d like to think that he is because they are going to need it.

If there’s anyone who can do it, if there is a local lad who understands what the fans and club are about it is someone like Steve Bruce.

He has got such little time before the season starts. He has to get everybody onside and then see who he wants to bring in to strengthen. Already, they need a striker who is going to get them 10-15 goals because of Rondon and Perez going.

Nolan was speaking on the Football Daily podcast.

This is Manchester United's second and final game in Australia. They're off to Singapore after this to face Inter Milan on Saturday as the countdown continues to the opening Premier League game with Chelsea on 11 August.

  10. Fans release statementpublished at 11:59 British Summer Time 17 July 2019

    HT: Newcastle 0-3 Wolves

Nine Newcastle United supporters groups have released a joint statement criticising the decision to make Steve Bruce the new manager as ‘an unambitious appointment by an unambitious owner.’

They are organising a protest at Sports Direct, Northumberland Street between 18:00 and 19:00 BST tonight.

Man Utd v Leeds Utd (12:00 BST)

Former Manchester United midfielder Bryan Robson on MUTV: "There are 80% Manchester United fans in the stadium. It's a great atmosphere. We want to entertain the fans so hopefully there will be a few goals."

  12. 'It's an opportunity he was going to take'published at 11:58 British Summer Time 17 July 2019

    HT: Newcastle 0-3 Wolves

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Yes, Steve Bruce has been out of the Premier League for a good few seasons but we are talking about a man who is a Geordie lad and loves the club.

There’s been a lot of harsh talk about him leaving Sheffield Wednesday after such a short space of time, which I can understand, but given the opportunity to go back to the club he supports, it’s one he is going to take.

He’s going to have to get everybody on side and the players working for him.

Osman was speaking on the Football Daily Podcast.

  13. Postpublished at 11:57 British Summer Time 17 July 2019

Man Utd v Leeds Utd (12:00 BST)

There's an amazing lights show going on inside the stadium in Perth where we are just minutes from kick-off.

This is supposed to be a friendly but there are no such things as friendly games between Manchester United and Leeds United.

It is EIGHT YEARS since Manchester United faced Leeds in a competitive fixture - the Red Devils running out 3-0 winners in a League Cup tie in September 2011.

  14. 'Glamour has gone'published at 11:57 British Summer Time 17 July 2019

    HT: Newcastle 0-3 Wolves

    Kevin Nolan
Former West Ham captain on BBC Radio 5 Live

He is a Newcastle boy and I think it has always been his dream job.

The glamour of managing Newcastle has gone in terms of you are not going to get a Jose Mourinho who’s out there. Sam Allardyce came out last week and said that he turned down an opportunity to go back.

When you have got people of the calibre of Sam, who has been known to keep teams in the Premier League, turning them down then we are on that next sort of step where Steve Bruce is probably the best one for the job.

Nolan was speaking on the Football Daily podcast.

It will be interesting to see how new signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka gets on for Manchester United today.

This is his first start since joining from Crystal Palace.

  16. Lukaku's absent againpublished at 11:55 British Summer Time 17 July 2019

Man Utd v Leeds (12:00 BST)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport in Perth

Romelu Lukaku is missing from the Manchester United line-up again this evening.

The Belgian picked up a knock in training yesterday but his absence is bound to intensify talk over a prospective move to Inter Milan.

Inter boss Antonio Conte is a known admirer, although, as yet, Inter are yet to come up with the fee United are looking for.

  17. 'Promoted teams rubbing their hands'published at 11:54 British Summer Time 17 July 2019

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

He may get a bit of money to spend but he has to be perfect in the transfer window and is he capable of that? I think he is a top manager but I think that that may be beyond him.

I bet the teams that have come up - Norwich City, Sheffield United and Aston Villa - are rubbing their hands at the situation at Newcastle United. It’s hard enough for these teams coming up and to establish themselves but Newcastle look like they are shooting themselves in the foot and giving other teams an opportunity to stay in the league.

Osman was speaking to Football Daily podcast.

  18. Postpublished at 11:53 British Summer Time 17 July 2019

    Here's some of their thoughts...

  19. Postpublished at 11:51 British Summer Time 17 July 2019

The fireworks are in full flow in Perth as the Manchester United and Leeds players prepare to take to the pitch.

Kick-off is under 10 minutes away.

  20. HALF-TIMEpublished at 11:50 British Summer Time 17 July 2019

    Newcastle 0-3 Wolves

A difficult half for Newcastle. Still lots of work to be done from Wolves but this is a good showing at the start of pre-season.

Morgan Gibbs-White has been particularly sharp.
