A very disappointing end to the season - which started 363 days ago with the first day of Liverpool training - for Sadio Mane.

He had said he would swap this year's Champions League for glory today.

Now Aliou Cisse seems to be leading his players in a prayer, all kneeling on the floor in a circle. Not sure I've seen anything like this before after a final defeat

Algeria manager Djamel Belmadi is looking a lot happier than his opposite number, who is one day older than him and grew up in the same Paris suburb.

Belmadi used to play for Manchester City and Southampton.

Senegal coach Aliou Cisse has his players in a huddle around them and he's trying to give them a speech. But they just look heartbroken.

Cisse was a player in their only other final, the 2002 defeat by Cameroon.

I've watched every AFCON19 game this tournament since the knockout stage begin, and have never seen a collection of such dire football matches. It's so frustrating as African football has all the talent in the world to produce a world class nation, but consistently plays some of the most inept football imaginable.

Algeria literally had one shot in that entire game - their second-minute goal.

    And committed 32 fouls!

But the end result is all that matters really.

I see Sadio Mane is getting an average of 8.47. Nearly everyone else is in the fours and fives.

Come on Liverpool fans, I see what you're up to.

Out come the flares as Algeria deservedly win Afcon 2019. They were the best team in Egypt by some distance.

They made light work of a disappointing/limited Senegal. It ended 1-0 - the early goal killing the game for the neutral. But credit Les Verts for fighting hard to protect their lead.

Algeria have been by far the most impressive team in the tournament. But this was a rank final. Not that they are going to care.
