  1. Lincoln have had to be patient this summer - Cowleypublished at 13:24 British Summer Time 2 August 2019

More from Lincoln boss Danny Cowley, whose side are preparing for the League One campaign after two promotions in three seasons.

"Just over two years ago we were a non-league team, and any club that moves as quickly as we have will always have obstacles in their way," he told BBC Radio Lincolnshire.

"We've done what we do best as a team and a club - we've found a way.

"Pre-season has been difficult and recruitment for us this summer has probably been the most challenging that it's been since we've been here and we've had to remain patient. We won't be the only team who has faced those challenges - that's the world we live in and that's modern-day football."

  2. Speculation hasn't affected us - Cowleypublished at 13:19 British Summer Time 2 August 2019

When you've had the success that Lincoln City boss Danny Cowley has had over the past couple of years, you can expect your name to be linked with jobs at higher levels.

West Bromwich Albion and Middlesbrough were among the clubs linked with summer moves for Cowley, but he and his assistant, brother Nicky, remained at Sincil Bank.

"We've always known the truth so it's never been an issue to us," Cowley told BBC Radio Lincolnshire.

"Unfortunately it's probably more unsettling for the supporters, who are not always in the know. But we know where we're at, where our focus is and it hasn't affected us at all."

  3. Will Derby be 'transitional' this season?published at 13:15 British Summer Time 2 August 2019

    Gary Rowett
Former Birmingham, Derby and Stoke boss

Former Derby boss Gary Rowett has his reservations about the Rams this season.

He thinks that the late departure of boss Frank Lampard to Chelsea "stopped them recruiting early and getting that work in early."

He added: “I think they will be a little bit transitional.”

New man Phillip Cocu has added Arsenal midfielder Krystian Bielik for an undisclosed fee and Brighton defender Matt Clarke on a season-long loan deal today.

  6. 'He needs a change' - Bojan to leave Stokepublished at 12:58 British Summer Time 2 August 2019

    Bojan KrkicImage source, Rex Features

Stoke boss Nathan Jones says he has amicably agreed with Bojan Krkic that the former Barcelona forward can leave the Potters.

"We shook hands and felt it was better for both parties that he went elsewhere and played his football elsewhere. That was a joint decision," Jones told BBC Radio Stoke.

"That wasn’t me saying ‘I don’t want you here’. He needs a change. I’ve got a fantastic relationship with Bojan. I’ve built a bond with him. I wanted him to be a success at the club.

"For all parties it’s best that he goes and finds somewhere he can settle and reinvigorate his career. We came to that decision amicably. I wish him all the best."

Bojan, 28, scored 15 goals in 74 league games for Stoke, having arrived in 2014.

  8. Chaos on and off the pitch at Boltonpublished at 12:46 British Summer Time 2 August 2019

So, despite all their problems, it seems that Bolton Wanderers are set to get their season under way at Wycombe. Nothing unusual about that - apart from the fact that they don’t know which players will turn up and turn out.

Astonishing, then, that Bolton fans have purchased just short of 1,500 tickets. No season tickets on sale. No replica kits on sale, and as things stand they'll begin the new campaign on -12 points.

Players not been paid for more than 20 weeks, the training ground is under lock and key - literally padlocked. And, just for good measure, let’s chuck in a never-ending takeover.

A founder member of the Football League in total disarray on and off the field, but despite all that, the supporters remain loyal with a show of total commitment. If that doesn’t send out a message to all concerned, nothing will.

    Take a bow, Bolton supporters.

  9. Can Posh live up to expectations?published at 12:45 British Summer Time 2 August 2019

    Sam Edwards
    BBC Radio Cambridgeshire's Peterborough commentator

A summer of clever, considered signings, plus the return of club legend George Boyd, has created plenty of fervour and top-six ambition among Peterborough supporters.

However, we have been here before.

This is Posh’s seventh consecutive season in League One and despite the promotion pledge each season, it remains that only on their first attempt in 2013-14 did they actually reach the play-offs.

The manager in charge that year was Darren Ferguson, who is back at the club in search of a fourth promotion.

    Gary Rowett
Former Birmingham, Derby and Stoke boss

Former Derby and Stoke boss Gary Rowett is backing Fulham to bounce back from relegation.

"I’d be surprised if Fulham weren’t in that top couple of sides this season," he told BBC Radio 5 Live.

However, he doesn't have high hopes for Hull: "I think they might find it very, very difficult this season."

In League One, he's backing Sunderland to make it second time lucky as they look to return to the Championship, saying they are "the one team that need to go back up."

Newport boss Michael Flynn worked wonders with the Welsh side last season.

He led them on a brilliant run in the FA Cup and the Exiles were just one game away from reaching League One before losing to Tranmere in the League Two play-off final.

One thing he's not so good at is choosing where to sit for an interview when the training pitches are being watered...

    Stephen Kelly
Former Reading and Fulham defender told BBC Radio 5 Live

Scott Parker was appointed Fulham manager in May after ending last season in caretaker charge.

Former Cottagers defender Stephen Kelly thinks he has a big challenge on his hands this season:

“The honeymoon period from the end of last season is over now because when he took over they were doomed pretty much so that was an opportunity for him to come in and test what it was like.

    “Now the pressure is on.”
