Craig Stevanato: Huddersfield v Fulham 2015, Cauley Woodrow sent off for handling on the line, about 4 mins later he was brought back on and Shaun Hutchinson sent off. We missed 2 penalties and Fulham scored direct from a corner that day. Had to laugh.

Daniel Stevanato: I was at Doncaster v Notts County in January 2015 and one of the Notts players got a second yellow for walking off the pitch too slowly when being subbed. After a long delay the substitute was eventually called back to the bench.

We're asking for your memories of unusual sendings off after Fulham midfielder Harry Arter was sent off in their draw at Cardiff last night for simulation deep inside his own half.

Thanks to the Stevanato brothers (?) for their contribution. Assume it's a quiet Saturday in their household today...

    Gillingham v Bolton (15:00 BST)

Bury may have been expelled from the EFL, but Bolton Wanderers managed to avoid the same fate after the club were rescued by a takeover on Wednesday.

Football Ventures (Whites) Limited completed its protracted takeover of the club after administrators warned the club could be placed into liquidation if it had not gone through.

The deal looked like it had collapsed on Monday, leading to bleak warnings about the future of the 145-year-old club.

But Wanderers have survived and, along with their struggles off the pitch, have a lot of work to do on it as well.

The Whites are bottom of the third tier on minus 11 points following their entry into administration this summer.

Interim boss Jimmy Phillips takes his side to Gillingham today, with supporters no doubt thankful that they still have a club to support - unlike Bury fans.

It's tight at the top of the third tier after five games, with the top five separated by goal difference.

Ipswich Town sit at the summit, largely thanks to their 5-0 win at Bolton last weekend.

The Tractor Boys - relegated from the Championship last season - welcome Shrewsbury, who are three points behind them in ninth, while second-placed Blackpool entertain a Portsmouth side who have only won one of their first four.

Wycombe Wanderers, Sunderland and Coventry City are the other three teams locked on 11.

The Chairboys travel to AFC Wimbledon, Sunderland go to Peterborough and the Sky Blues make the trip to Oxford United.

Unbeaten Doncaster Rovers sit out the day's action following Bury's expulsion from the EFL, and will have played two fewer games than most come full-time.

The Yorkshire side also had their fixture against Bolton postponed after Wanderers cited welfare concerns for their youg players.

  4. Jones on the brink?published at 14:43 British Summer Time 31 August 2019

    Birmingham v Stoke (15:00 BST)

    Nathan JonesImage source, Rex Features

One manager feeling the heat at the end of August is Stoke City's Nathan Jones.

The Potters have taken one point so far this season, which came at home against Derby County, and were outclassed 3-0 by Leeds United last weekend.

Jones got some breathing space by beating the Whites on penalties in the League Cup in midweek, but he could be shown the door if they suffer another defeat today.

Goalkeeper Jack Butland scored what proved to be the winning spot-kick against Leeds but is dropped from the matchday 18 entirely for the visit to former club Birmingham.

Pep Clotet's men have won two of their opening five, but are also coming off the back of a 3-0 defeat - theirs came at Swansea last Sunday.

But the Blues have the upper hand over Stoke in recent meetings - they have lost just one of their last 12 matches in all competitions, winning eight of those games.

  5. Terriers hope to turn the cornerpublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 31 August 2019

    Luton v Huddersfield (15:00 BST)

It's been a pretty grim year for Huddersfield Town fans so far.

Relegated from the Premier League, the Terriers sacked boss Jan Siewert three games into the Championship season after picking up a point.

It was probably deserved, given they have only won one game in the whole of 2019.

Caretaker Mark Hudson has not had much joy since taking charge, losing twice, and Huddersfield sit in the relegation zone with a solitary point.

The Yorkshire club travel to promoted Luton, who recorded their first league win of the campaign at Barnsley last weekend.

This is the two clubs' first meeting in any competition since the final day of the 2007-08 season in League One, which ended 1-0 in favour of the Terriers.

    Reading v Charlton (15:00 BST)

Charlton Athletic are another side who have confounded the pundits' predictions from pre-season.

The Addicks were tipped to struggle, given they are operating on a shoe-string budget having come up from League One via the play-offs.

But Lee Bowyer has made some astute signings and the south-east Londoners sit third following an unbeaten start which includes three wins.

They could move into the top two with victory today, depending on the result between Leeds and Swansea.

Charlton travel to a Reading side who started poorly but have won two of their past three in the league.

The Royals have beaten relegated pair Cardiff and Huddersfield, and picked up a point at West Brom in a three-game unbeaten run.

  7. First meets second at Elland Roadpublished at 14:36 British Summer Time 31 August 2019

Leeds United v Swansea (15:00 BST)

    Steve CooperImage source, Getty Images

The fixture list has thrown up what few may have predicted to be a top-of-the-table clash at the end of August.

Leeds United were expected to challenge for promotion again after keeping hold of head coach Marcelo Bielsa, but Swansea City have been the surprise package of the new Championship campaign.

New boss Steve Cooper, who led England Under-17s to World Cup triumph in 2017, has taken to senior management like a duck to water after taking charge this summer following the departure of Graham Potter to Brighton.

The Swans are only behind the Whites on goal difference, having matched their record of four wins and a draw from the opening five league games to record their best start to a campaign since 1923-24.

The Welsh side will get a test of their promotion credentials this afternoon, and Cooper will be hoping to end the club's 10-match losing streak at Elland Road.

That is Leeds' longest-ever home winning run against an opponent.

    FT: Bristol City 2-2 Middlesbrough

    Kasey PalmerImage source, Rex Features

What a game to start today's EFL action!

The hosts took the lead deep into an entertaining first half through Kasey Palmer's header.

Boro had had their chances and they levelled after the break thanks to Taymor Moore's own goal before Britt Assimbalonga put them in front with an assured finish.

City fought back and Tommy Rowe's header gave them a share of the spoils.

If the rest of today's games can live up to that we're in for a cracking Saturday.

  10. 'It was end to end'published at 14:28 British Summer Time 31 August 2019

    FT: Bristol City 2-2 Middlesbrough

Britt Assombalonga told Sky Sports: "It was a tough game. It was end to end. Both teams just wanted to score and come out winners, but fair play to both and I think 2-2 was fair.

"We played well in the first half and probably deserved more than being 1-0 down. I think we just have to keep progressing and keep going."

It's a frantic finish at Ashton Gate but I think a point apiece is just about fair. Both teams led, but neither could get across the line.

And they very nearly turn it into a goal! As the second ball comes in, Ryan Shotton hooks a half-volley towards goal but keeper Daniel Bentley makes himself big to block it away.

    Bristol City 2-2 Middlesbrough

I'd say, across the piece, 2-2 is probably about fair. But I can't promise it's going to finish that way.

    We're into the final minute.

  19. Postpublished at 87 mins

    Bristol City 2-2 Middlesbrough

The home team just can't get out of their half!

This time goalkeeper Daniel Bentley punches nervously at a far-post cross and is nearly made to pay, but Britt Assombalonga can't quite make the most of the half chance.

  20. Postpublished at 86 mins

    Bristol City 2-2 Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough have been by far the better team since they earlier made this game 1-1.

Marc Bola has looked a real treat getting forward down the left but somehow nobody can get on the end of his low cross.

Both teams are going all out for the win, that's for sure.
