  1. goal

GOAL - Leicester City 2-1 Bournemouthpublished at 41 mins

    Youri Tielemans

He nearly missed it! Did his best to.

Brilliant work from Jamie Vardy, who has been superb in this first half. He gets into the area on the right, skips inside a challenge, could go down for a penalty but gets his head up and finds Youri Tielemans inside the six-yard box. He duffs his shot against the post and it rolls over the line!

Mark McBeath: Chelsea starting 11 today their youngest in PL era. Top half finish this season would be a great foundation for future. Change of direction by Abramovich after 16 years of short-termism?

  3. CLOSE!published at 15:40 British Summer Time 31 August 2019

    Chelsea 1-0 Sheffield United

    So close!

That's brilliant form Chris Basham, overlapping centre-back 101, spinning into the channel down the right and firing in a cross. Callum Robinson is beyond the last defender and gets contact on it, but his header is just wide!

  4. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 15:40 British Summer Time 31 August 2019

    West Ham 1-0 Norwich

This is a blow for Norwich. They are already depleted defensively and now they've got another injury to a centre-back as Christoph Zimmermann goes off. He'd been struggling since an earlier challenge. Ibrahim Amadou is on in the Norwich skipper's place.

Steve Bruce has been doing his nut so far.

  6. CLOSE!published at 15:38 British Summer Time 31 August 2019

    Chelsea 1-0 Sheffield United

Should be two! Mateo Kovacic runs on to a knock-down from Tammy Abraham, powers into the box and steers his shot wide of Dean henderson - and wide of the post too.

  7. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 15:37 British Summer Time 31 August 2019

    Man City 1-0 Brighton

Manchester City have to make a change in defence as Aymeric Laporte goes off injured following a robust challenge. Applause from around the Etihad as the defender is taken off on stretcher. Fernandinho replaces him.

  8. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 15:36 British Summer Time 31 August 2019

    Newcastle United 0-1 Watford

Newcastle want a penalty after a shot is charged down but there's nothing given. VAR? Ah, te shot hit Daryl Janmaat right up the backside. Good block.

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Aston Villa

It is a physical battle at Selhurst Park but not much in the way of chances midway through the first half.

Both sides are being positive and getting high up the pitch but there's not been much quality in the final third.

    Man City 1-0 Brighton

Brighton are getting forward at every opportunity. They had five men on the edge of the Man City area in their last attack.

    Newcastle United 0-1 Watford

Newcastle manage to build some pressure but a good cross in towards big Joe up front is well claimed by Ben Foster. Ever alert.

  12. Postpublished at 15:33 British Summer Time 31 August 2019

    West Ham 1-0 Norwich

Should be 1-1 as Todd Cantwell rises to meet a cross at the far post. He is unmarked but jumps too early and the ball skims off the top of his head and away from goal.

Zred: Since Brendan Rodgers arrived at Leicester no player has scored more goals than Vardy! Remember he said he would build a team around Vardy to make him score goals like Suarez? Maybe Rodgers is an offensive genius!?

Simon Atkins: Vardy showing what he is capable of. He shows it time and time again, and there are still doubters if he has a few off games. Shame he didn't get a chance earlier in his life at the top end of football.

  14. Postpublished at 15:31 British Summer Time 31 August 2019

    Leicester City 1-1 Bournemouth

Plenty of efforts on goal to enjoy at the King Power, Leicester centre-back Caglar Soyuncu bending wide from 25 yards with his left foot. You don't get that from Wes Morgan.

Almost for David Silva as he sidefoots an effort from Raheem Sterling's lovely pass just wide of the far post.

David Ljunggren: So the Newcastle defence listened to the manager's instructions to "keep it tight at the back" for all of a minute and 42 seconds. Good work boys.

I can't believe how disjointed NUFC look. They've gone from rock solid against Spurs to all over the place today. Bruce is clueless!

    Ian in Newcastle

    Good grief.

  19. Postpublished at 15:28 British Summer Time 31 August 2019

Bold from Brighton. They are determined to play our from the back - and credit for them for doing that at City - but the defending champions are all over them immediately and it is putting the Seagulls defence under unnecessary pressure.

  20. Postpublished at 15:27 British Summer Time 31 August 2019

    Chelsea 1-0 Sheffield United

    Garth Crooks
BBC Sport football expert on Final Score

On Sheffield United's survival hopes: "They're going to struggle. They lack potency at the front and their style of football is quite basic for the Premier League. They're going to work hard and really frustrate teams and have a go but I can't see them surviving with this quality of football."
