  3. Can Pickford equal record?published at 13:55 British Summer Time 1 September 2019

    Everton v Wolves (14:00 BST)

Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has completed 90 minutes in all 110 of his top-flight appearances.

Today he will equal the record for the most Premier League games while playing the full 90 minutes in each one, matching Ali Al Habsi's tally (for Bolton and Wigan).

(That's presuming he lasts the 90 minutes).

Johnny Magrinho: I love Wolves. You look at that XI & there's no visible weakness. Solid bench too. They genuinely want to win every game they play. Thought Jimenez would get a rest now and then but he's constantly leading the line. Great mentality to have - hope it lasts all season!

Everton have picked up four points from three Premier League games before, and scraped past Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

They were 10 minutes away from a penalty shootout before Alex Iwobi and Richarlison headers to make it 4-2.

Wolves have drawn all their Premier League matches, but won all their six Europa League qualifiers, including Thursday's win over Torino.

On Friday they were drawn in Group K with Besiktas, Braga and Slovan Bratislava.

Everton are the anti-Napoli. Carlo Ancelotti's side have scored seven and conceded seven in their opening two Serie A games. A 4-3 win over Fiorentina was followed by last night's dramatic 4-3 defeat by Juventus.

    Everton v Wolves (14:00 BST)

Everton manager Marco Silva: "Wolves had a very good season last season. This will be the third season where almost all the players are playing together, they know each other well.

"They are a strong team, a solid team, they are really strong in a counter-attack. They will be solid every time, waiting for the right moment in a counter-attack to create problems for us and in set-pieces as well.

"For us to play in our way, we have to be always in a good balance, prepare well in our attacking moments but be ready to lose the ball because in that moment they are really strong."

  11. Wolves hope for European momentumpublished at 13:25 British Summer Time 1 September 2019

    Everton v Wolves (14:00 BST)

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo: “We’re going to use it [Thursday’s win] in the best way that we can. We’ll try to compete the way we compete, we competed well, we have to do it again. We’re going to look at Everton now. They’re a good team.

“What we did was amazing [at Goodison Park last season], but now we have to go again. We are talking about a very good squad, a very good manager. It’s going to be a big, big test for us. Their home form shows how good they are and how well they do things.”

  13. Can Wolves compete in Europe and the Premier League?published at 13:20 British Summer Time 1 September 2019

    Everton v Wolves (14:00 BST)

    David Bentley
Former Tottenham winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think they've got the talent to do it. But it's a new thing for the club. At Blackburn when we qualified for Europe, we had a similar team and we managed to do it.

It's hard because of the travelling and playing at times you're not used to. It's a mindset and the players can respond. It can be a real positive for their Premier League campaign.

  14. 'Silva has been successful in transfer marketpublished at 13:16 British Summer Time 1 September 2019

    Everton v Wolves (14:00 BST)

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Marco Silva has been successful in the transfer market at Everton. Five of his six signings last season played nearly every game. Lucas Digne was their best player.

Alex Iwobi has goals in him. If he’s as successful in the transfer market this summer, Everton could become a decent side.

  15. 'Everton issue is goals'published at 13:13 British Summer Time 1 September 2019

    Everton v Wolves (14:00 BST)

    Karen Carney
Former England women's winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Marco Silva has got Everton quite defensively well organised. But the issue is the goals. When they went behind against Villa they didn't seem to have the confidence to get back into the game.

  18. 'Result will make big difference to Everton'published at 13:07 British Summer Time 1 September 2019

    Everton v Wolves (14:00 BST)

    Guy Mowbray
    Match of the Day commentator

If Everton win, they can consider seven points from four games a good start.

Draw, and it becomes distinctly average.

Lose, and it's like last year again, with another summer's optimism fading fast.

They're strong at home though, and really ought to make it six Goodison wins in a row, especially against a team burdened by Europa League qualification since July.

I say 'burdened', but ever-impressive Wolves have made it look a breeze, with relatively little rotation of players too.

The Thursday-Sunday pattern they are committed to will really test the squad, and the sooner they get a first Premier League win the better.

After another busy week, they'd surely settle for still being unbeaten after this.

    Everton v Wolves (14:00 BST)

    Mark Lawrenson
    Former Oxford United manager

Wolves are now dealing with the Europa League. I know they have more players but it is just a funny thing playing Thursday and Sunday.

It is also a balancing act for the manager and I think Wolves will be up and down this season.

    Prediction: 2-0
