  1. Fernandinho's new rolepublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 21 September 2019

Man City v Watford (15:00 BST)

    Steve Bower
    Match of the Day commentator

Manchester City gave a strong and comfortable response in the Champions League during the week to last weekend's events at Carrow Road, and will be desperate to follow that up domestically.

Fernandinho, for so long regarded by some as the key man for the champions in midfield, is suddenly being wrapped in the proverbial cotton wool as a central defender.

The fact that City have scored 25 goals in their last six games alone against Watford will add to the hope that he and his colleagues won't be tested too often. As will Watford's run of 17 league games without a clean sheet.

Quique Sanchez Flores enjoyed his return to the Hornets hotseat in the end against Arsenal, but he knows a surprise against a team who've won 20 of their last 22 home games is a far sterner challenge.

  2. 'Familiarity of home could help Everton'published at 14:38 British Summer Time 21 September 2019

Everton v Sheff Utd (15:00 BST)

Marco Silva has urged his Everton players to rediscover their "solidity", and with it the impressive defensive record that has ended recently.

The familiarity of home could help. In a striking contrast, Everton have a perfect six-match record at Goodison Park but have taken just three points from the last half dozen away.

The resolution of Sheffield United's ownership means the focus is back on football, and replicating the performance that earned them an unlikely point from their last away game, at Chelsea.

Something similar could see them become the first team to take points off Everton at home since the last Merseyside derby.

  3. 'How can Canaries follow up standout result?'published at 14:36 British Summer Time 21 September 2019

    Burnley v Norwich (15:00 BST)

Norwich can expect extra attention this weekend, and not just from their hosts Burnley. Planet Football will be fascinated to see how the Canaries follow up the standout result of the Premier League season so far.

Having stolen a point in stoppage time at Brighton, Burnley must now relocate home comforts, and quickly.

Their sole victory this term came on day one at home to Southampton. Since then, both Liverpool and Sunderland have come to Turf Moor, scored three times and won.

Teemu Pukki has scored as many as league goals as Burnley's entire squad put together, but his side have lost all three games on the road and haven't kept a clean sheet anywhere since the beginning of April.

  4. Is Mendy ready?published at 14:35 British Summer Time 21 September 2019

Manchester City v Watford (15:00 BST)

This is only Benjamin Mendy’s second Premier League appearance since November 2018. For a team that are experiencing defensive problems, it’s an interesting time to bring the full-back into the side. But a lot of City’s fans have been clamouring for it since his inclusion off the bench against Shakhtar during the week.

Raheem Sterling is given the chance to rest the legs, and I imagine Pep will be keen to avoid having to introduce him if everything is going to plan.

Angus Robb: I just cannot see how the point where the ball is struck by the player making the forward pass can be identified to the accuracy of the eventual offside. I think fans looking at the replays know when there is a clear offside and when not. Son was level

JaloftheReds: We used to complain about referees decisions. Now we complain about VAR decisions. The difference? More time wasted and game stoppages

Tommy: Maybe VAR should have a time limit, if decision cannot be made within 30 secs of ball crossing the line then on pitch decision stands.

Man City XI: Ederson, Walker, Fernandinho, Otamendi, Mendy, De Bruyne, Rodri, Silva, Mahrez, Aguero, Bernardo Silva.

Adrian Mariappa and Dimitri Foulquier come in to the Watford side that drew with Arsenal last week. It's a Premier League debut for Foulquier. Andre Gray and Christian Kabasele are the men making way.

Watford XI: Foster, Femenia, Dawson, Mariappa, Holebas, Capoue, Foulquier, Cleverley, Doucoure, Hughes, Deulofeu.

If you're a Spurs fan you are scratching your head. The VAR lines are meant to be objective but they are still drawn by a person so it's still a subjective decision.

For me, the offside law has become ridiculous and VAR just underlines that.

    Burnley v Norwich (15:00 BST)

Burnley manager Sean Dyche makes one minor tweak from the team that drew at Brighton last Saturday. Jeff Hendrick, who scored against the Seagulls after coming on as a substitute, replaces Aaron Lennon.

Burnley XI: Pope, Lowton, Tarkowski, Mee, Pieters, Hendrick, Cork, Westwood, McNeil, Wood, Barnes

Subs: Hart, Taylor, Brady, Rodriguez, Lennon, Vydra, Long

Norwich boss Daniel Farke unsurprisingly sticks with the team that defeated Manchester City last Saturday.

Norwich XI: Krul, Byram, Godfrey, Lewis, Cantwell, Buendia, Stiepermann, McLean, Amadou, Tettey, Pukki

Subs: McGovern, Hanley, Roberts, Leitner, Heise, Drmic, Srbeny

    FT: Leicester 2-1 Tottenham

    Karen Carney

The fatigue of Tottenham took its toll in the second half. The key moment was the VAR decision which completely killed them.

Leicester though were the better team throughout and had the energy to come back. Their second half performance earned them the game.

  10. Kean and Robinson startpublished at 14:28 British Summer Time 21 September 2019

Everton v Sheff United (15:00 BST)

Moise Kean makes just his second league start for Everton, as the Blues make two changes from the defeat to Bournemouth last time out.

The striker replaces Dominic Calvert-Lewin, while Bernard is restored to the starting line-up in place of Alex Iwobi.

Sheffield United make just one change from their loss to Southampton last time out.

Callum Robinson replaces David McGoldrick in attack, while Billy Sharp remains suspended.

Fred, Hampshire: The amount of Tottenham fans blasting VAR when it has been the saviour on more times than for any other team is laughable

Fiona: It certainly adds extra drama to the game

Gary: Everyone misses the point about VAR/offside. Being inches closer to the goal than the defender is inconsequential (it can't possibly make any difference) so being able to objectively measure such a 'fact' is pointless.

Jon, Spurs fan: refereeing decisions should never be the determining factor in a result. An absolute farce. VAR will drive fans away from football in droves
