Having dispatched Everton and Southampton in their last two games, Bournemouth are hoping to record a third successive win - something they have only done twice before in the same season at Premier League level, both times in their first year in the top flight (2015-16).

Eddie Howe's side have once managed four straight wins - but that was spread across two campaigns, with two at the end of 2017-18 and two at the start of 2018-19.

Felipe Anderson finds right-back Ryan Fredericks on the overlap and he whips in a low ball which is turned behind by Jack Stacey.

The Hammers play it short but manage to give away a free-kick in the process. Chance for the Cherries to ease the pressure.

Last week, Joshua King had a goal ruled out for a marginal offside by VAR at Southampton. This week, the technology favours the Norwegian - and it's the first Premier League goal West Ham have conceded since 24 August.

King has made it clear he prefers to play as a central striker, but is very much a "team player" - and has been a potent threat coming in off the left flank in recent games, terrorising Everton here a fortnight ago despite not getting on the scoresheet himself.

Yup, the goal's been given. It's one each.

Diego Rico delivered an outswinging cross which deflected off Nathan Ake's thigh and King swept it in from close range.

At first glance he looked to be in front of Ake but, in fact, he was just behind him.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini allowed himself to celebrate with a fist-pump as Andriy Yarmolenko wheeled away in delight, running half the length of the field to celebrate with the West Ham fans in the East Stand, who are now singing "1-0 to the Cockney boys".

After an impressive start to last season, Andriy Yarmolenko's season was cut short by an Achilles injury in October.

But he's picked up where he left off, with this his third goal in six Premier League games this term.

    Andriy Yarmolenko

Andriy Yarmolenko is most definitely OK to continue, he's just opened the scoring!

Felipe Anderson lofts a ball into the Bournemouth box which Sebastien Haller brings down.

The striker plays it back to Yarmolenko, who turns before giving Aaron Ramsdale no chance with a left-footed strike from around 15 yards. Great effort.

It's overcast but dry in Dorset. With the county cricket season having ended this week, autumn is surely upon us, and though it's by no means gloomy, the floodlights are already on - they've not even waited until half-time.

West Ham's 4-1-4-1 seems to have worked for them in these early stages, with England's Declan Rice sitting in front of the back four.

    Bournemouth 0-0 West Ham

Harry Wilson releases Philip Billing down the left and he crosses towards Joshua King but the Bournemouth forward pushes his marker at the back post and concedes a free-kick.

Both sides enjoy some early possession before Andriy Yarmolenko wins a corner on West Ham's right wing, which results in left-back Aaron Cresswell having a long-range effort blocked.

Having started the season with a 5-0 thumping at the hands of Manchester City, West Ham have steadied the ship somewhat, having not lost in the league since the opening day, while they enter this game on a run of three successive Premier League clean sheets.

With Leicester and Arsenal not in action until later in the weekend, and Man City not kicking off until 17:30 BST, a win here would take the Hammers to the heady heights of second in the table - if only for a couple of hours.

There's a lot of similarities with today's two sides:

    • Both are in the Premier League's top six
    • Both enjoyed impressive league wins last weekend
    • Both were then knocked out of the Carabao Cup in midweek after being humbled by mid-table League One opposition
    • Both have reverted to the same starting XI they had for their last Premier League game.

The Hammers have not won this fixture since the 2015-16 season, so how they do at Bournemouth will be a good indication of their progress.

Eddie Howe's Bournemouth side are playing well and have got home advantage, so I am backing them to come out on top, just.
