Celtic just can't get a grip of the game. It's not down to themselves, it's down to the way Cluj are really, really pressing them every time they try and make two or three passes.

    Celtic 0-1 Cluj

The Romanians come again, winning a free-kick around 40 yards out after Ryan Christie makes a crude tackle.

Damjan Djokovic's scudding low effort is pretty tame, Scott Bain has lots of time to watch it whistling towards him, but elects to boot it away rather than get hands and body on it.

A touch unconventional from the Celtic stopper, that.

Really, really good cross and a good header, you've got to say. It's no real surprise because of the way Cluj have approached this game. They've been really high, in Celtic's faces, getting lots of possession in the Celtic half, and those flaws in the defence, not matching runs and winning headers.

    Ciprian Deac

Oh my...Celtic Park falls eerily silent.

Cluj love to pepper their opponents' box with crosses, and from Omrani's hanging ball, Cirpian Deac makes a brilliant leap across Callum McGregor.

Deac's header strikes the inside of the box and nestles in the back of the Celtic net with Scott Bain stranded.

How will Celtic respond to this chastening setback?

    Celtic 0-0 Cluj

First chance for Mikey Johnston to scurry and slalom through the Cluj defence, and it so very nearly results in a goal.

The youngster curls a powerful right-foot shot just wide from the edge of the box.

It's a real exciting game. Celtic are actually playing more on the counter attack than the opposition. This game has got a real high tempo to it.

  7. Fresh Cluj harrying Celticpublished at 20:08 British Summer Time 13 August 2019

    Celtic 0-0 Cluj

Cluj are putting on an effervescent display thus far, full of pep and energy with their high press.

Remember, the Romanians changed their entire team from the weekend's league win, and they look to be reaping the rewards of that freshness.

Celtic have got to be really, really sharp with their passing to get out from that Cluj high press. If they do it, and do it well, there are opportunities up the pitch for them.

  9. CLOSE!published at 20:02 British Summer Time 13 August 2019

    Celtic 0-0 Cluj

It's end-to-end stuff now as Celtic take some of Cluj's better punches, then launch volleys of their own on the counter.

James Forrest sees an effort blocked on the edge of the box before Ryan Christie finds some space and wins a corner with another deflected shot.

    Celtic 0-0 Cluj

Celtic captain Scott Brown takes a bit of friendly fire as the home side defend a deep set-piece delivery.

Up went goalkeeper Scott Bain to pluck the ball from the air, before inadvertently landing on his skipper.

Brown was fantastic in getting Celtic through a tricky encounter in Romania last week - after a couple of minutes on the deck, he's back up and in amongst it.

This is one way of succeeding against Celtic - press high, force Celtic into making mistakes, and they will get their chances. If Celtic are brave enough, they can break that high press, but it's not going to be easy.

  12. Camora on targetpublished at 19:57 British Summer Time 13 August 2019

    Celtic 0-0 Cluj

Cluj get the first shot of the evening, as a long throw-in from the right breaks kindly for captain Camora on the edge of the box.

The Portuguese makes a decent connection on the half-volley, but the ball whistles straight into the arms of Scott Bain.

  13. CLOSE!published at 19:57 British Summer Time 13 August 2019

    Celtic 0-0 Cluj

That's a big chance for the visitors, who have made a very lively start in Glasgow.

Deac scampers into the box to meet an Omrani cross at the back post, but skews it wide from around eight yards out.

He was caught late by Callum McGregor - and although he proceeded to take about six roly-polies after the hitting the deck, had a strong shout for a penalty.

You can see the intent from Cluj's players. They want to stop Celtic getting momentum in this game. They're almost going man for man.I'm surprised with how Cluj have started. Really good attacking intent from them.

Celtic will have lots and lots of the ball - it's about what they do with it. Cluj are pressing Celtic quite well, just as the home side have been trying to build the game through the back-four.

  19. Resurgent Griffithspublished at 19:41 British Summer Time 13 August 2019

    Celtic v Cluj (19:45)

Leigh Griffiths missed much of last season to tackle mental health issues, but on his return to the first team, has already rattled in three goals this term.

He's on the bench tonight, with Odsonne Edouard leading the line.

Celtic captain Scott Brown says the striker is edging closer to the form he showed when he was Scotland's first-choice forward.

"He's getting fitter, he's getting sharper, he's getting stronger on that left foot," said Brown. "We all know it's a wand. We just want him back to his best for Celtic and for Scotland because we know how vital he is for us."

  20. Petrescu is Cluj's 'main asset'published at 19:41 British Summer Time 13 August 2019

    Celtic v Cluj (19:45)

Romanian journalist Emanuel Rosso tells BBC Sportsound: "Celtic showed they can contain Cluj and I think that was surprising for the Romanian public.

"Dan Petrescu is a very good manager, he is Cluj's main asset. I would compare him to Jose Mourinho when he first took over at Chelsea. He's the leader in that changing room, he's the leader on the sidelines as well. He's intelligent, he's a very good motivator, knows how to get the best out of his players.

"Cluj are very good on the counter. They will probably try a more counter attacking version of themselves and maybe try to speculate from a set-piece."
