  1. Postpublished at 60 mins

Brighton again look to break between the lines with Pascal Gross releasing Solly March. The winger's cutback is just behind Neal Maupay and a diving Tyrone Mings is able to clear it for a throw in.

  2. CLOSE!published at 56 mins

    Aston Villa 1-1 Brighton

Brighton still carry a threat on the counter.

Martin Montoya joins the attack, Neal Maupay spins away from Bjorn Engels and is narrowly wide with his cut shot.

    Aston Villa 1-1 Brighton

Martin Montoya is booked for pulling John McGinn's shirt as the Scotsman tries to race away.

    Clear as day that one.

  4. GREAT SAVE!published at 51 mins

    Aston Villa 1-1 Brighton

Aston Villa should be ahead now.

Matt Targett is freed down the left hand side and he pings in a low cross. Conor Hourihane meets it full pelt but Mat Ryan pulls off a terrific save.

The Brighton keeper bounces up to put Anwar El Ghazi off but the winger ought to do so much better than blaze over from eight yards.

  5. Postpublished at 50 mins

    Aston Villa 1-1 Brighton

It's an ambitious hit from Solly March but a decent one from distance.

The Brighton man hasn't scored since March but he's only about a yard wide with a bobbling shot.

  6. Postpublished at 47 mins

    Aston Villa 1-1 Brighton

Aston Villa have got the bit between their teeth straight away in this second half.

Marvelous Nakamba is pressing high and his team-mates are following suit. There is no time for Dale Stephens and Davy Propper to pick passes any more.

This looked pretty different before that sending off.

I imagine it will flip completely by the time we hit 90 minutes. It'll be interesting to see how Brighton boss Graham Potter adapts his tactics to cope with being a man down.

  11. Deserved red?published at 15:52 British Summer Time 19 October 2019

    HT: Aston Villa 1-1 Brighton

    Steve Sutcliffe
BBC Sport reporter at Villa Park

There’s a slight debate in the press box over whether Aaron Mooy’s challenge should have brought a second yellow.

In real time it looked very much like a deserved card, but on replays it looked like the Australia midfielder was actually trying to pull out of his attempted tackle.

Regardless of that, Brighton now have the disadvantage of both playing with a man less and also losing one of their most influential players.

  12. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:50 British Summer Time 19 October 2019

    Aston Villa 1-1 Brighton

    A sudden influx of drama.

Brighton were comfortable but Aaron Mooy's red card changed the game.

With a sprinkling of VAR thrown into the mix as well, it's certainly been exciting at Villa Park.

  13. goal

GOAL - Jack Grealishpublished at 47 mins

    Aston Villa 1-1 Brighton

Aston Villa fans are celebrating again now.

Wesley holds off his marker on the edge of the box before rolling wide to the overlapping Frederic Guilbert.

The defender fires in a cross and a stumbling Jack Grealish is completely unmarked to turn home into an unguarded net.

  14. DISALLOWED GOAL - VARpublished at 15:45 British Summer Time 19 October 2019

    Aston Villa 0-1 Brighton

The Aston Villa fans turn from joy to frustration as the referee rules out the goal.

Nothing whatsoever wrong with Conor Hourihane's thumping strike but Wesley's challenge on Mat Ryan in the build-up is the reason for disallowing it.

The Brazilian's arm was raised and after a delay it's ruled out.

  15. goal

GOAL - Conor Hourihanepublished at 43 mins

    Aston Villa 1-1 Brighton

Aston Villa's pressure against the 10 men tells.

Conor Hourihane spanks John McGinn's cutback into the back of the net and wheels away celebrating.

VAR are taking a look at this though.

  16. CLOSE!published at 39 mins

    Aston Villa 0-1 Brighton

The red card has changed the momentum of this game.

Conor Hourihane escapes down the left and cuts back for John McGinn just 12 yards out.

His fizzing shot is heading for the bottom corner but crashes into the unfortunate Wesley and bounces away to safety.

  17. Postpublished at 37 mins

    Aston Villa 0-1 Brighton

From the free-kick, Conor Hourihane again warms the palms of Mat Ryan who pushes it back into the danger area.

John McGinn swings a hopeful leg at it but his shot goes into the side netting.

  18. RED CARD - Aaron Mooypublished at 35 mins

    Aston Villa 0-1 Brighton

    Utterly predictable.

Just four minutes after getting needlessly booked, he lunges in from behind on Jack Grealish who creases up in pain.

The referee has an easy decision to make and it's an early bath for the Australian.

  19. GREAT SAVE!published at 31 mins

    Aston Villa 0-1 Brighton

Tom Heaton to the rescue for Aston Villa.

Neal Maupay again finds all sorts of room to drive at the Villa defence and he slides in Aaron Connolly with a lovely through ball.

He races onto it but out comes Heaton to make a dominant block with his legs.

  20. YELLOW CARDpublished at 30 mins

    Aston Villa 0-1 Brighton

    Daft from Aaron Mooy.

He goes in the referee's book for stopping an innocuous free-kick on the halfway line from being taken.
