    League One latest

Sol Campbell doesn't take charge of his new Southend side until Saturday, but he won't be liking what he's just seen from the director's box at Roots Hall ... Ethan Hamilton has been sent off in the sixth minute against Doncaster.

It's a second red card of the season for the Manchester United loanee following a reckless challenge on Jon Taylor.

Meanwhile, there's been a goal in the division - Rochdale are ahead against MK Dons.

West Brom v Barnsley (20:00 BST)

    BarnsleyImage source, Rex Features

    The 20:00 BST kick-off is a classic top-versus-bottom encounter.

Championship leaders West Brom, who have lost just once in the league this season, host bottom club Barnsley.

The Baggies left it late to beat Middlesbrough on Saturday, recording their fourth win in five.

Barnsley, meanwhile, have not tasted victory since the opening day of the campaign and are now 11 without a win.

The Tykes slipped to the bottom of the table at the weekend despite taking a point from the visit of Swansea.

Adam Murray continues as caretaker boss and the trip to Slaven Bilic's well-oiled machine provides a daunting second match in charge.

The Hawthorns is turning into a fortress for Albion too, with the hosts having won nine and drawn three of their past 12 on home soil.

    Swansea v Brentford (19:45 BST)

Swansea City set the pace in the first month of the season, taking 16 points from their first six games to sit top of the Championship at the end of August.

Since then Steve Cooper's side have had their momentum checked, but they remain third in the table despite winning just one of their past six league games.

Visitors Brentford have been in similarly patchy form, but came back from 2-0 down with six minutes left against Millwall on Saturday to record a first win in three.

The Bees have struggled on the road this season, losing four of their six trips away from Griffin Park.

Ollie Watkins has been in form in front of goal - barring his penalty miss against the Lions at the weekend - with his eight goals making him joint-top scorer in the second tier.

Sheff Wed v Stoke (19:45 BST)

    Nathan JonesImage source, Rex Features

Sheffield Wednesday missed the chance to move into the automatic promotion places on Friday when Lee Tomlin's late equaliser rescued a point for Cardiff in Wales.

Still, Garry Monk has picked up 11 points from six games since taking charge on 6 September.

The Owls - whose exile from the Premier League is about to stretch into a 20th year - start the match one point off the play-offs.

It is heady days for Stoke City, who have won back-to-back games for the first time in a year.

The Potters followed up their success over Swansea with a 2-0 win over Fulham on Saturday, moving them off the bottom of the table and placing them two points from safety.

Young striker Tyrese Campbell netted his first league goal for the club and City even scored a penalty too, having missed their last four.

The next target for boss Nathan Jones is consecutive away league wins - which Stoke have not recorded since October 2015, when the club were in the Premier League managed by Mark Hughes.

Bradford City and Newport County occupy the other two automatic promotion places and both clubs have home games, against Port Vale and Crawley Town respectively.

Carl Fletcher takes charge of Leyton Orient for the first time, with his first match coming away at former club Plymouth Argyle.

Bottom club Stevenage, who start the day a point from safety, face a trip to Swindon Town, who sit in the final play-off spot.

    QPR v Reading (19:45 BST)

    QPRImage source, Rex Features

Queens Park Rangers are one of the surprise packages of the season so far, with Mark Warburton transforming the fortunes of a club who have finished in the bottom half of the table for the past three seasons.

Rangers come into this one fifth in the table, having recorded a sixth win in eight away at Hull on Saturday.

The R's are the third highest-scorers in the division, with Ebere Eze, Jordan Hugill and Nahki Wells netting six goals each.

Reading gave new manager Mark Bowen the perfect start on Saturday, with Matt Miazga's 98th minute goal enough to beat Preston and move the Berkshire outfit out of the relegation zone.

That ended a six-match winless run and, remarkably, was the first time the Royals had led a match since their victory over Huddersfield in August.

Preston North End saw their eight-match unbeaten run come to an end at Reading on Saturday, as the Lilywhites conceded a 98th-minute goal.

Boss Alex Neil admitted his side didn't play well enough in what he described as a "poor game".

Preston remain in the top six on goal difference as they aim to improve on last season's 14th-placed finish.

Leeds United marked their centenary in style at the weekend, beating Birmingham courtesy of Kalvin Phillips' second-half goal.

The Whites did enough to win a second match in three and move up to second in the table despite squandering several chances.

Marcelo Bielsa's side have not been good travellers in recent weeks, losing at Charlton Athletic and Millwall, and will be looking to improve their away form ahead of a trip to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

    Millwall v Cardiff (19:45 BST)

    Tom BradshawImage source, Rex Features

Millwall were left to lick their wounds and consider what might have been at the weekend, having been 2-0 up at Brentford with six minutes remaining and then losing 3-2.

It was a sucker punch for caretaker boss Adam Barrett, who seemed to be on the brink of making it two wins from two.

As it is, the south-east Londoners have only won one of their past nine.

Barrett supervises the Lions for the final time, with new manager Gary Rowett watching from the stands after being named as the successor to Neil Harris yesterday.

Cardiff make the journey to the capital ahead of the derby against Swansea at the weekend.

The Bluebirds, relegated from the Premier League last season, sit four points off the play-offs heading into this one.

Neil Warnock's men have only lost one of their past nine in the league - but have drawn five of those games.

    Birmingham v Blackburn (19:45 BST)

    Pep ClotetImage source, Rex Features

Birmingham City suffered their fourth defeat in five when they were beaten 1-0 at Leeds on Saturday.

That run has seen the Blues slip from the edge of the play-offs to 12th in the table and five points off the top six.

Caretaker Pep Clotet will be aiming to halt that slide at home to a Blackburn Rovers side who are winless in four.

Rovers came from behind to take the lead at home against Huddersfield in the early kick-off on Saturday, but were pegged back by the Terriers as the match ended 2-2.

Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray has never won an away league match against Birmingham - drawing once and losing three times - having faced a different manager in each winless game.

Steve Bruce, Chris Hughton, Lee Clark and Garry Monk have all frustrated Mowbray, with Clotet looking to add his name to that list.

The top of the Championship was very congested heading into the weekend, with just three points separating leaders West Brom from ninth place.

The Baggies managed to eke out a two-point lead after winning on Saturday, but one victory is still the margin between the next eight sides.
