  11. Struber prepares for Oakwell debutpublished at 14:53 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2019

Barnsley v Hull City (15:00 GMT)

    Gerhard StruberImage source, Getty Images

18 games, zero wins. Surely Barnsley's bad run has to end soon?

The newly-promoted Tykes had a great start to the season as they beat Fulham 1-0 on the opening day of the season.

But since then it has been a bit of a disaster - 12 losses and six draws have come since and Barnsley have taken just one point from the last 15 available.

A month-and-a-half after Daniel Stendel left the club brought in Gerhard Struber as his replacement, but the Austrian has seen his side lose at Blackburn last Saturday before going down 1-0 at fellow strugglers Middlesbrough on Tuesday night.

When appointed Struber said "we can keep this club in this league", but he will have his work cut out.

Only one side with nine points or fewer from their first 18 games has ever survived in the second tier - and you have to go back to the 1963-64 season when Plymouth Argyle managed the feat - every team since then, and there have been 10, have all gone down.

He faces a Hull side in his first home game who thumped high-flying Preston 4-0 in midweek and in Jarrod Bowen have a striker who has scored nine goals in his past seven games.

    Good luck Gerhard.....

  12. Can Luton end 27-year Bees hoodoopublished at 14:51 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2019

Brentford v Luton Town (15:00 GMT)

    The ShamenImage source, Getty Images

September 13 1992 was a seminal date in dance music as The Shamen knocked Snap's Rhythm is a Dancer off the number one spot with their seminal hit Ebeneezer Goode.

It was also a big day in Luton Town's history as it was the last time they left Griffin Park with three points as they beat Brentford in the First Division (what is now the Championship).

The Bees went on to be relegated that season, but never again have they lost at home to Luton - winning eight and drawing the other three of their encounters.

So, in what will be Luton's final trip to Griffin park before Brentford move to their new stadium, can the Hatters swat down the Bees?

Luton have never lost three games in succession against Brentford, but they have win only three of their last 54 matches in London in the top two tiers.

But if Luton can keep Ollie Watkins quiet they might have a chance - the forward has scored half of Brentford's 22 goals this season.

  13. Can Wigan end poor run?published at 14:48 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2019

Wigan Athletic v Reading (15:00 GMT)

    Paul CookImage source, Rex Features

The form table looks even worse than the league table if you are a Wigan fan.

The Latics have taken just two points from their past six games - only QPR are below them as they have conceded more goals and they have conceded at least two goals in each of their last five matches.

But Paul Cook's team host a Reading side who who have won just one of their past 13 away games in the Championship and have lost half of their previous eight visits to the DW Stadium.

Reading have picked up slightly under new boss Mark Bowen, although go into the match of the back of two successive defeats, but they are only two points above Wigan, who occupy the final relegation place.

  14. No split loyalties as Woodgate returns to Leedspublished at 14:46 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2019

Leeds United v Middlesbrough (15:00 GMT)

    Jonathan WoodgateImage source, Rex Features

Jonathan Woodgate was at the heart of Leeds' most successful period in the modern era.

As a centre-back he helped the club make the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2003 as well as five successive top-five finishes in the Premier League between 1998 and 2002.

But he is very much a Middlesbrough man - he was part of the club's academy before moving to Elland Road at 16 and has had two spells as a player at Riverside before becoming manager this summer.

Any any thoughts about where his loyalties lie have been put to rest by the Boro manager, whose side moved pout of the relegation zone after bearing Barnsley on Wednesday.

"There'll be no emotion for me at all, I'm the Middlesbrough manager," he told BBC Radio Tees.

"I'm a Middlesbrough fan, born in Middlesbrough, born and bred here, so Middlesbrough's my club."

On the field a win for Leeds will take then back above West Bromwich Albion to the top of the Championship until Monday night when the Baggies have a tricky trip to Preston.

Victory for Boro would be the first time Woodgate has led a side to back-to-back wins as a manager and could see them go as many as four points clear of the relegation zone.

The wait is over for Derby County fans... well sort of.

Wayne Rooney, the coach, has arrived at Pride Park for the first time. It takes just a few steps for him to be greeted with a handshake and broad grin from Rams security.

Today will be the first time England's all-time record scorer takes his place on the bench as part of Phillip Cocu's backroom staff.

Rooney, the player, will not be seen until January when he is eligible to put the boots on and join the action in England's second division.

Still, the 34-year-old is going to grab plenty of attention between now and then!

  16. Derby finally become part of Wayne's worldpublished at 14:40 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2019

    Derby v QPR (15:00 GMT)

Philip Cocu and Wayne RooneyImage source, PA Media

He was unveiled as Derby's future player-manager back in August, but today is the first time that England's record goalscorer Wayne Rooney will be part of the Rams' coaching team.

Derby fans may well say it cannot come soon enough after last year's play-off finalists' stuttering start to the season.

County are 14th in the Championship, six points off the play-off and their form has picked up of late - they have won five of their past 10 games having taken just eight points from their opening seven games.

Rooney is not eligible to play until the start of January, but Rams skipper Curtis Davies says he has already impressed his colleagues.

"We all know he is a leader and done everything in the game," Davies said of Rooney, a five-time Premier League winner who also collected Champions League, FA Cup and three League Cup winners' medals in 13 years with Manchester United.

"If he says something and you don't listen, even me who is older than him, then you are fooling yourself.

"If you can lean anything from him, it is going to be good for you. It will be interesting to see what things he wants to do and the way he wants to influence sessions."
