    Brighton 1-1 Everton

Everton earn a free-kick in a decent position as Lucas Digne is brought down by Martin Montoya. An unnecessary challenge.

Digne sends it into the box but Dan Burn gets a head to the ball just ahead of Tom Davies, sending it out for a corner.

The first corner results in a second, which results in the ball eventually going all the way back to Jordan Pickford.

    Brighton 1-1 Everton

Good play from Brighton in the middle ends with a great chance for Steven Alzate.

He picks the ball up on the left wing and brings it into the box, wrong foots Djibril Sidibe, and unleashes a shot towards Jordan Pickford's top left corner. But the ball is always rising and sails over the bar.

    Alan Pardew
Former Southampton and West Ham manager on BBC Radio 5 Live

Both managers will be pleased, it has been an even first half.

Brighton started the fastest and caused Everton problems, but after they equalised Everton definitely upped the pace and they looked the superior team - especially with Richarlison exploiting Brighton’s lack of pace.

...four minutes of very little action.

The whistle goes and it's all square at the break.

    Brighton 1-1 Everton

Close, but not close enough. Lucas Digne takes the corner short to Gylfi Sigurdsson, who passes it to the unmarked Alex Iwobi on the edge of the box.

Iwobi looks to curl it into the top corner but doesn't get enough spin on it and it drifts wide.

  9. Postpublished at 43 mins

    Brighton 1-1 Everton

It's all Everton at the moment but they're finding it tough to carve out a real chance in front of goal.

With two minutes remaining in the first half, they win a corner. We know what happened last time.

  10. Postpublished at 38 mins

    Brighton 1-1 Everton

Brighton might be feeling slightly lucky here. Slick play from Richarlison on the right wing brings the ball up the field for Everton, he plays the ball to Theo Walcott in the box and he thunders the ball towards goal.

It's deflected away, but did it hit Lewis Dunk's arm? I think so, but the VAR doesn't seem to want to look at it again.

    Brighton 1-1 Everton

Gylfi Sigurdsson is keen to make an impact on this game. He picks the ball up just outside the area and goes for goal with a left-footed error.

He doesn't get much oomph behind it though and it's an easy gather for Mat Ryan.

Moments earlier, Brighton's Dale Stephens becomes the first player to go into the book today.

Everton have been forced into an early sub as the injured Bernard is helped from the pitch.

Gylfi Sigurdsson comes on in his place.

Richarlison's goal has now been confirmed as an Adam Webster own goal.

The Brighton defender got the slightest of touches as Richarlison's header flew towards goal.

Bernard is just down for a bit of treatment. Looked like he jarred his knee while trying to change direction off the ball.

    Ouch.

    Brighton 1-1 Everton

Everton have come to life again, and have another opportunity in front of goal.

Theo Walcott receives the ball in the box and finds himself with only the goalkeeper to beat, but his first touch brings it a little further out than he would have liked, allowing Mat Ryan time to close him down and smother the shot.

    Richarlison

    Well, well, well.

Lucas Digne whips in the corner and Richarlison slams his header past Mat Ryan.

VAR has a quick look at it but they're happy.

    Brighton 1-0 Everton

Brighton are certainly looking more confident after the goal but Everton have a corner.

What can they do from this?

  18. Postpublished at 16 mins

How do you react to that then, Everton?

The atmosphere at the Amex has certainly picked up a touch.

    Pascal Gross

    Thunderbolt. What a goal.

Jordan Pickford had no chance. Pascal Gross hits the ball as clean as a whistle from the set-piece and it flies into the top corner.

  20. Postpublished at 14 mins

    Brighton 0-0 Everton

Aaron Connolly wins a free-kick for Brighton in a very promising position, Andre Gomes giving it away very clumsily.

Three Brighton players are standing over it, looking to whip it in from just outside the box.

Looks like it's Pascal Gross to take it.
