Only seconds into the second-half and we're just had the first effort on target.

Abdoulaye Doucoure's header is rather tame, and sails straight into the hands of Vicente Guaita - but it's an at attempt on target nonetheless.

  7. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:47 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2019

    Watford 0-0 Crystal Palace

A first-half with some heated exchanges but very little goal mouth action.

Here's hoping for a bit more in the second-half...

  8. Postpublished at 45 mins

    Watford 0-0 Crystal Palace

    Time for one more chance.

Gerard Deulofeu plays the ball square to Ismaila Sarr on the edge of the Palace area, but he blazes his shot high and wide over the bar.

"That's why you're going down" rings out from the away end.

  9. Postpublished at 42 mins

    Watford 0-0 Crystal Palace

After that brief moment of tension, it's all calmed down again as we approach half-time.

I told you, you might be disappointed if you were expecting goals.

  10. YELLOW CARDpublished at 39 mins

    Watford 0-0 Crystal Palace

Now it's Craig Cathcart's turn to go into the book.

He stretches for the ball and gets there first but he clatters into Luka Milivojevic with the follow through.

This is turning into a feisty affair with little quality.

  11. YELLOW CARDpublished at 36 mins

    Watford 0-0 Crystal Palace

Wilfried Zaha tangles with Christian Kabasele and the Palace forward goes into the book, to the delight of the Watford fans.

The Ivorian thought he was man-handled by Kabasele as the pair fell to the floor, and as they got back to their feet, they catch legs again and it's Zaha who is penalised.

Roy Hodgson is urging his player to calm down.

  12. YELLOW CARDpublished at 34 mins

    Watford 0-0 Crystal Palace

Jordan Ayew is brought down after a rash challenge by Abdoulaye Doucoure, and the Watford midfielder goes into the book.

Tempers are just starting to flare a little bit at Vicarage Road and the referee produces the first yellow card.

  13. Postpublished at 32 mins

    Watford 0-0 Crystal Palace

Wilfried Zaha is bundled over by Abdoulaye Doucoure but keeps the ball under close control on the floor despite the attention of several yellow shirts.

The decision goes against the Ivorian but he is quickly back to his feet to show his frustration towards Etienne Capoue.

The Palace forward was angry with the way Capoue tried to play the ball while the former was on the ground.

The referee steps in and it all calms down. On we go...

  14. Postpublished at 29 mins

    Watford 0-0 Crystal Palace

The ball is delivered into the box but Jordan Ayew wins a free-kick and the chance comes to nothing.

That was 15 seconds to sum up the whole half so far.

  15. Postpublished at 27 mins

    Watford 0-0 Crystal Palace

Martin Kelly brings Gerard Deulofeu's run to a halt deep inside the Palace half and Watford are just starting to grow into this one.

The Watford forward brushes himself off and will take the free-kick.

  16. Postpublished at 26 mins

    Watford 0-0 Crystal Palace

Roberto Pereyra strikes the wall and the chance disappears as Palace clear their lines.

Watford have a rather tame appeal for a handball but the referee is not interested in that one.

  17. Postpublished at 24 mins

    Watford 0-0 Crystal Palace

    Now then.

Troy Deeney is hauled down just outside the Palace box and this is a big chance for the hosts.

  18. Postpublished at 23 mins

    Watford 0-0 Crystal Palace

Palace may feel hard done by there.

Jeffrey Schlupp lifts the ball towards Jordan Ayew, but the forward is muscled off the ball by a double act of Craig Cathcart and Christian Kabasele.

It looked like a trip on the Palace forward but play is waved on.

  19. Postpublished at 20 mins

    Watford 0-0 Crystal Palace

Talking of fans, the Palace supporters are in a jovial mood themselves in the away end.

    And why wouldn't they be?

Their side are just three places outside the Champions League places as it stands.

  20. Postpublished at 17 mins

    Watford 0-0 Crystal Palace

Ismaila Sarr has been bright this afternoon but he is floored by a challenge with Wilfried Zaha.

Craig Cathcart puts the ball out so his teammate can receive attention, and the Watford fans react by singing "he's just too good for" at Zaha.

The Ivorian smiles, Sarr is back to his feet and plays resumes.
