  2. 'I'll be judged in the league' - Heckingbottompublished at 20:08 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November 2019

    FT: Hibernian 2-5 Celtic

Asked if tonight's performance will appease many Hibs fans who want him to be sacked, head coach Paul Heckingbottom responded: "That's for them to say. It wasn't a performance good enough to win the game and get to a cup final. I said before that was my focus today.

"Now we move on, I've got to park that, get rid of it. Because we're playing a cup final next week if you like [against St Johnstone]. It's the league where we're judged. We all know things could have been different, could have been so much better in the league, but it's not so we have to put that right."

  3. 'Elyounoussi a £16m talent' - Lennonpublished at 20:06 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November 2019

    FT: Hibernian 2-5 Celtic

Mohamed Elyounoussi is beginning to show Celtic fans just how good he is, says Neil Lennon. The on-loan winger netted a double and was only denied his hat-trick by the woodwork in an impressive display.

“I thought he was outstanding," said the Celtic manager. "His best performance since he’s come in. His intelligence on the ball and his link-up play and his fitness levels are incredible.

"And what you’re seeing now is the player that Southampton spent £16m for. So we’re delighted he’s making us better and we’re delighted we’re making him better.”

  4. 'Game was lost at 2-0' - Heckingbottompublished at 20:02 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November 2019

    FT: Hibernian 2-5 Celtic

Hibernian head coach Paul Heckingbottom has emerged from the dressing rooms and has been speaking on Sportsound.

"You can''t expect to get anything when you go two down to Celtic that early on. That's where the game was lost for me. We just kept giving the ball away, we were really poor in possession, even people who are usually good with the ball.

"Whether that was the occasion, Hampden, semi-final, the pressure Celtic put on us because how quick they were making us play - that's where it was lost, that first part of the game."

    FT: Hibernian 2-5 Celtic

More from Celtic manager Neil Lennon who says it was important to play his key players - rather than rest them - so they could keep momentum going for Thursday's Europa League clash with Lazio.

Speaking to BBC Scotland, he said: “This will give us a huge psychological boost going in to Thursday against a top side.

"It was important that we focused on today and we put a strong team out and we didn’t disappoint anyone. I think the fans are going home delighted with what they’re seeing. I know I am.”

Looking ahead to Thursday's match, Lennon added: “It’s a game to savour. We’ll give the players tomorrow off - they’ve had a heavy schedule - then really focus on what the incentives are."

  8. Celtic a 'joy to watch' says Lennonpublished at 19:45 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November 2019

    FT: Hibernian 2-5 Celtic

Celtic manager Neil Lennon tells BBC Sportsound: "We should have scored more. We dominated the first half and some of the football in that period was magnificent.

"Hibs got some good fortune with the goal but our reaction to that was very good. Hibs threw everything at it second half and credit to them but we are functioning so well and it's a joy to watch.

"It's a brilliant semi-final win because these games aren't easy. The players are handling the expectation and scrutiny excellently."

  9. 'We showed how a proper team plays' - Brownpublished at 19:39 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November 2019

    FT: Hibernian 2-5 Celtic

Celtic captain Scott Brown says his side showed what they are capable of and fully deserved to reach the Scottish League Cup final.

Speaking to BT Sport, the midfielder said: "We know that if we turn up and play our game we have a great chance and we scored fantastic goals today.

"Mohamed Elyounoussi was tremendous, so were all the lads in the first half. It was proper domination and we showed how a proper team plays. To get into that final means so much to the lads and to the fans as well."

Credit to Hibs, they got the second goal in that 4-4-2 diamond formation. If they had got a third it would have been interesting. The players are definitely with Paul Heckingbottom, but he has to get some good results in the next few league games or he will be out the door.

That was fun, frantic and full of goals. Celtic are one win away from their 10th consecutive domestic trophy after a demolition of Hibs.

A Mohamed Elyounoussi double and Callum McGregor strike had Neil Lennon's men 3-1 up the break, with Melker Hallberg replying for Hibs.

Two second-half Scott Brown goals - either side of a Florian Kamberi strike - sent Celtic into the final despite an improved display from Paul Heckingbottom's team.

It was always going to be a difficult game against a team who haven't lost a domestic cup game in over three years. No one can be upset with Paul Heckingbttom for this. He has to be given more time to keep working with the players he brought in over the summer.

Celtic weathered the storm and have gained control with simple passing. Hibs have probably been too open and it looks as if Celtic will see out the last 10 minutes comfortably.
