  1. Old Firm, same old storypublished at 17:32 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2019

FT: Rangers 3-0 Heart of Midlothian

A rare all-Edinburgh final was a possibility, but that was always going to be a tall order considering Hibs and Hearts' woes in the Premiership.

Instead, as expected, it is the first Old Firm final since 2011 after Celtic's demolition of Hibs yesterday and the ease of Rangers' victory today.

Steven Gerrard's side will attempt to end Celtic's run of nine domestic trophies in a row at Hampden on 8 December.

The Glasgow rivals are nip and tuck at the top of the Premiership and a classic final is in prospect.

  2. Morelos man of the matchpublished at 17:28 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2019

FT: Rangers 3-0 Heart of Midlothian

The counting's done and, not surprisingly, Alfredo Morelos is your choice as man of the match after two goals that took the striker's total for the season to 20.

  3. MacPhee in charge against St Mirrenpublished at 17:25 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2019

FT: Rangers 3-0 Heart of Midlothian

As we heard pre-match, Hearts are in no rush to make a permanent appointment and Austin MacPhee will have at least one more chance to lead his team out when they face St Mirren in the Premiership next weekend before the international break.

Former Hearts and Scotland winger Neil McCann threw his hat in the ring on BBC Scotland's Sportsound this afternoon. Who will be next?

  4. MacPhee reaction to comepublished at 17:22 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2019

FT: Rangers 3-0 Heart of Midlothian

We've not heard from Austin MacPhee yet. I'm sure it won't have dented his enthusiasm for taking the Hearts job on permanently, but it will be a sore one for the caretaker manager and won't have helped his cause.

Watch out for his reaction later on the BBC Sport website.

The way it has gone over the last few years, Celtic have been the dominant champions. This Rangers team, as they are now, they are evenly matched. The challenge is getting bigger and bigger. I expect the final to be so close, probably too close to call

  6. 'We're in better shape' - Gerrardpublished at 17:17 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2019

FT: Rangers 3-0 Heart of Midlothian

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard tells BT Sport "we were aware we had five previous attempts" at getting to a final without success.

"I thought we were outstanding," he says. "We were in total control, dominated the majority of the game.

"Once the game opened up, you could see our quality."

Referring to last season's 1-0 defeat by Aberdeen at the same stage, Gerrard suggests his team are much improved.

"I felt differently about mentally," he says. "With all due respect, last year I knew we were limited. Standing today with Alfredo Morelos and Jermian Defoe, I felt different. We're in better shape than 12 months ago."

  7. MacPhee gameplan undonepublished at 17:13 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2019

FT: Rangers 3-0 Heart of Midlothian

For Hearts, it is a game that will do little to improve caretaker Austin MacPhee's chances of taking the job permanently.

His gameplan was not helped by injuries to Glenn Whelan and Michael Smith, but his side were already second best before those two added to Hearts' long list of injury problems.

It was a mirror image of yesterday's first semi-final - the Glasgow side easing aside their rivals from Edinburgh.

Unlike Hibs in their 5-2 loss to Celtic, though, Hearts rarely looked like grabbing the crumb of comfort that comes from a goal at Hampden.

  8. Kent eyes Hampden silverwarepublished at 17:09 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2019

FT: Rangers 3-0 Heart of Midlothian

Rangers winger Ryan Kent is looking forward to the cup final against Celtic.

"These are the games you relish as a professional," he tells BT Sport. "It will be a tough game, but we've got lots of confidence and hopefully we can come away with some silverware.

"The first goal was key today and it gave us a lot of confidence going into the second."

  9. Jack aims high for Rangerspublished at 17:04 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2019

FT: Rangers 3-0 Heart of Midlothian

Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack is "over the moon" with the victory.

"I'm obviously delighted for the club and supporters," he tells BT Sport. "We've got a lot of big games, they come think and fast and we're delighted to get to a final.

"This squad's got great talent and who knows how far we can go?"

Rangers exposed areas that Hearts left open. Hearts practically gave up in the second half. It was just a knife through butter at times in the second half. It is going to be some final and it could be anybody's game. Rangers are certainly deserving of their place in the final

  12. Old Firm march on to 8 Decemberpublished at 16:58 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2019

FT: Rangers 3-0 Heart of Midlothian

Will it be Steven Gerrard's first trophy since becoming Rangers manager? Or will Neil Lennon secure Celtic's 10th domestic trophy in a row?

It's a mouthwatering prospect for Hampden Park on 8 December.

  14. FULL-TIME Rangers 3-0 Heart of Midlothianpublished at 16:51 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2019

Rangers ease into their first cup final since losing to Hibernian in 2016.

Filip Helander broke Hearts' resistance just before the break and it was a procession in the second half as Alfredo Morelos scored twice for Steven Gerrard's side.

It will be an Old Firm final at Hampden after Celtic's 5-2 win over Hibernian yesterday - the first since Rangers beat their city rivals in the League Cup final of 2011.

It's been a tough game for Austin MacPhee, but Hearts have done nothing with the ball, they've not got in good enough areas to give us an idea of what he's worked on offensively.

In theory, you can understand why Hearts have played narrow to drive through Rangers, but I don't think it was a wise idea to leave Tavernier and Barisic unmarked as often as they have done
