Slight lull to Manchester City's attacking play at the moment. Can Palace take advantage?

  2. Postpublished at 30 mins

    Man City 0-0 Crystal Palace

Cenk Tosun wins a free kick in his own half which brings loud cheers from the Palace supporters behind their goal.

The Turkey forward is ploughing a lone furrow at the moment. He's not exactly got the easiest task in the world today.

    Man City 0-0 Crystal Palace

Another chance for Raheem Sterling but heading isn't exactly his forte, is it?

In fairness, Bernardo Silva's cross is a touch on the high side for Sterling who misses the target from six yards or so.

Manchester City are knocking on the door.

  4. YELLOW CARDpublished at 26 mins

    Man City 0-0 Crystal Palace

Jordan Ayew brings down Benjamin Mendy and is the second Palace player to go into the book.

  5. Postpublished at 24 mins

    Man City 0-0 Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson talked about not wanting his team to "live on the memory" of their 3-2 win here last season before this one.

At the moment I'm not sure that his players can even remember the formula for that one.

They are yet to have a shot or any meaningful possession in the Manchester City half.

    Man City 0-0 Crystal Palace

Manchester City really look a well-oiled machine here. Palace are chasing shadows at the moment.

  7. Attack versus defencepublished at 19 mins

    Man City 0-0 Crystal Palace

It's pretty much been attack versus defence here so far, with Palace doing almost all of the defending.

But that Wilf Zaha penalty shout was a reminder of the Eagles' threat on the break, and the reaction in the stands here while the decision was checked at Stockley Park was a reminder of what both sets of fans think of VAR.

    Now then what's this...?

Wilfried Zaha goes down after a coming together with John Stones in the Manchester City penalty area. Referee Graham Scott has waved that one away but it's going to be checked by VAR....

    Nope, nothing doing.

  9. Postpublished at 16 mins

    Man City 0-0 Crystal Palace

Another chance for Manchester City as Raheem Sterling heads wide from close range. Kevin de Bruyne is again the provider. Surely only a matter of time before the hosts score?

  10. GREAT SAVE!published at 15 mins

    Man City 0-0 Crystal Palace

That's a superb save from the Palace keeper Vicente Guaita who stands up, makes himself big and blocks Sergio Aguero's shot.

  11. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 14 mins

    Man City 0-0 Crystal Palace

Exemplary technique from Kevin de Bruyne.

The Belgian curls a free-kick over the Palace wall but then sees it hit the underside of the crossbar and bounce to safety.

  12. YELLOW CARDpublished at 13 mins

    Man City 0-0 Crystal Palace

James McArthur goes into the book for chopping down Sergio Aguero. This free-kick is in KDB range...

    Man City 0-0 Crystal Palace

David Silva is making his 300th Premier League appearance for Manchester City - the first player to reach that total for the club in the competition.

He must surely be a pretty decent shout for being the Blues' greatest player?

Huge sigh of relief from Cheikhou Kouyate, who losses the ball cheaply in midfield, allowing the hosts to stream forward.

David Silva is the man on the charge, but for once the man known as 'Merlin' in these parts has no magic in his boots, scuffing his cross-shot, which allows Palace keeper Vicente Guaita to grab hold of the ball.

As Chris was saying earlier...Crystal Palace aren't exactly great in front of goal.

  16. Postpublished at 3 mins

    Man City 0-0 Crystal Palace

First chance for Kevin de Bruyne to pop off a shot. The Manchester City midfielder won't be happy with that - his left-footed shot from the edge of the box misses the target on the left.

It had the Crystal Palace keeper Vicente Guaita scrambling, mind.

  17. Postpublished at 2 mins

    Man City 0-0 Crystal Palace

Benjamin Mendy is getting in down the Crystal Palace left at will. The French left-back just overhits a cross to the far stick though. Otherwise Raheem Sterling was in.

  18. Postpublished at 2 mins

    Man City 0-0 Crystal Palace

It's all Manchester City in the early stages. Pep Guardiola's side are popping the ball around nicely.

I mean come on what did you expect?

Palace’s players have been practising their shooting in the warm-up and for good reason.

Roy Hodgson’s side are the joint-lowest scorers in the Premier League with 20 goals from 22 games so far this season and, along with Watford, they are one of only two top-flight teams not to manage a league goal from outside the area in 2019-20.

The Eagles did of course manage one spectacular strike from distance when they last played here in December 2018 but - sadly for them - Andros Townsend, who smashed home a brilliant volley in their famous 3-2 win, is out injured at the moment.

Who has got their shooting boots on today?
