  1. A couple of crackers to come...published at 17:56 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2019

There's a double helping in the Premiership tomorrow, with Celtic and Rangers resuming their tussle at the top of the table.

Motherwell host Rangers in the lunchtime kick-off, while the leaders are at home to Hibs.

The Fir Park side have been going great guns this season and have won three in a row without conceding a goal, but have not managed a league win over Rangers since Boxing Day 2002.

Hibs have picked up significantly under Jack Ross and held the champions at Easter Road earlier in the season but most of Celtic's key players have had a week's rest since their League Cup final victory.

Join us then. Enjoy the rest of your Saturday.

  2. Boys are sweating blood - Ricepublished at 17:53 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2019

    FT: Aberdeen 1-0 Hamilton Academical

Hamilton head coach Brian Rice is disappointed with the result but pleased with his side's performance despite a defeat that leaves them bottom of the Premiership.

"I'm feeling disappointed to come up here and battle the way we did and to lose a sloppy goal - it's fine margins in this league," he tells BBC Scotland.

"Fair play to Aberdeen, they've scored the goal and won the game.

"We had plenty of possession but never had the cutting edge, but we've lost the game 1-0 and not been turned over and been in the game.

"I can't ask any more of the boys - they are sweating blood in that shirt and I'm so disappointed for them. In the last five games, it's been one goal in it."

  3. A win's a win - McInnespublished at 17:48 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2019

    FT: Aberdeen 1-0 Hamilton Academical

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes thought a virus that swept through Pittodrie this week had hampered his side but said "a win is a win" after beating Hamilton

"It was a thoroughly deserved win on the balance of chances," he tells BBC Scotland. "First half, I thought we were very good in controlling the game and Joe Lewis has had nothing to do for the whole 90 minutes.

"When you are guilty of missing the chances we did, it does make it a bit tougher and Hamilton came here full of spirit and well-organised and, the longer the game goes, the more they believe they can get something out of it.

"I was delighted to get Funso Ojo on the pitch and you see what he means to the team - he controlled the middle of the pitch - and we lost it when he went off at half-time."

  4. 'There was only one good goal in the game' - Goodwinpublished at 17:45 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2019

    FT: St Mirren 3-3 Livingston

St Mirren manager Jim Goodwin doesn't believe today's wet and windy affair with Livingston should have been called off, but admits that all but one of the six goals on show today were probably avoidable if not for the conditions.

He said : "I think the decision to play the game was the right one. I've certainly played in worse conditions and the pitch was fine. It was a little bit heavy but there was no water on the surface. Yes, there were high winds which were difficult to deal with at the time, but living in this country if we're going to call games off in conditions like that then we'll have a lot of postponements over the course of the season.

"It wasn't a particularly good game of football. The conditions didn't allow for that. All three of the goals that we've conceded are extremely poor. I think there was only one good goal in the game and that was our second one. Every other goal was avoidable from both teams."

  5. Kilmarnock deserved a point - Alessiopublished at 17:37 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2019

    FT: Ross County 1-0 Kilmarnock

Kilmarnock manager Angelo Alessio tells BBC Scotland: "I think it was a good performance from my team. Of course I'm disappointed because we conceded the goal at the end of the game. It's football, we have to pay attention. We made a mistake in this situation and we lost the game.

"I think it was a good reaction after the last game [3-0 defeat to Livingston]. We deserved one point.

"The next game [at home to Motherwell] is a massive game. Now we have time to prepare, to reflect, to work. I don't know another way."

Killie, on a run of four without a win, have picked up just six points from their last eight outings.

  6. 'It's six goals that could have been avoided'published at 17:34 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2019

    FT: St Mirren 3-3 Livingston

Livingston manager Gary Holt is frustrated to lose a 3-1 lead and believes all six goals can be chalked up to the severe wind and rain in Paisley.

Speaking to BBC Scotland, he says: "I know the pitch was playable and the surface was really good but the conditions weren't. For both teams. Both teams served up a good game. The goals are something both sides will be disappointed with but I think the conditions played a big part in that."

When asked if he thought the game should have been called off, he said: "It's always tough because people want to see the games and at the end of the day they've seen six goals. But I think it's six goals that could have been avoided."

And was he ultimately happy with a point?

"It's away from home," said Holt. "Unbeaten in four and we could have won the game. Yes, by all means, we were 3-1 up but teams aren't going to just lie down when you go ahead. They're going to throw everything at you and St Mirren did that. We could have dealt with the goals better."

  7. Erwin attitude 'fantastic' - Kettlewellpublished at 17:30 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2019

    FT: Ross County 1-0 Kilmarnock

Ross County co-manager Stuart Kettlewell pays tribute to match-winner Lee Erwin, whose late goal gave them a 1-0 win over Kilmarnock.

He tells BBC Scotland: "He's missed a lot of football, he had a little setback, and we've been working really hard with him. His attitude has been fantastic and he wants to get himself back on the pitch and be the influence that he was today.

"You're obviously on a high, winning a game in that manner. But if you take the whole 90 minutes I thought we were excellent. We dominated a large part of it.

"A couple of weeks ago everybody was criticising us and criticising the form we were on, and maybe rightly so, but on that note it was good to get a clean sheet because there's been a few critics of how we've defended as a team. I thought the defensive unit was watertight today."

  8. Saints on the uppublished at 17:25 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2019

    FT: Hearts 0-1 St Johnstone

St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright is delighted after a first away win in nearly 12 months and back-to-back clean sheets.

"It's been a long time coming but we thoroughly deserved it," he tells BBC Sportsound. "We created the clear-cut chances. We knew they would press us - I'd watched the way Daniel Stendel had Barnsley playing - and we got in behind them regularly.

"We defended well and that gave us a platform to go and hurt them. I told the players to out-work them and they fought for everything today."

The Perth side rise to 10th from last place in the Premiership.

  10. 'We need to believe in better times'published at 17:16 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2019

    FT: Hearts 0-1 St Johnstone

New Hearts boss Daniel Stendel is extremely hoarse as he tells BBC Sportsound: "You can see the players were trying new things but we didn't deserve to win today, we didn't create many chances.

"I hope the fans give the players more chance. At the moment it's not easy and we need more from the stands. We need to believe in better times.

"We will work hard for the next four games and see what can be done in January. We have some big players to come back from injury.

"We're not happy with the result. We can play much better. The players give me the feeling they are willing to work hard but we need to change some things quickly."

A narrow win, but three points is three points and it’s those points that take Aberdeen above Motherwell and back into third in the Premiership. The Dons again looked to Sam Cosgrove and it’s good to have a high-scoring hit-man who is now on 19 goals, but are they relying on him too much?

Sam Cosgrove's 19th goal of the season is enough to lift Aberdeen up to third in the Premiership and send Accies to the bottom.

The big striker was left unmarked at the back post to fire in off a post and Hamilton failed to test goalkeeper Joe Lewis in response.

Accies are now behind Hearts on goal difference after St Johnstone's win at Tynecastle lifted them off the foot of the table.

Brian Rice's side are without a win in 11 games and have not won away from home in 10 league outings.

  17. FULL-TIME St Mirren 3-3 Livingstonpublished at 16:51 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2019

A six-goal thriller in blustery and rainy Paisley, with St Mirren hitting back from 1-0 down and 3-1 down to earn a share of the spoils.

The wild weather made life tough for defenders, with a few of the goals owing more to errors of judgement than silky soccer.
