Steve Evans has made a positive substitution - a couple of attacking options on the pitch. Overall, West Ham have been a little bit more forward thinking with their play. They have tried to make things happen.

    Gillingham 0-1 West Ham

Corner to Gillingham, won by Brandon Hanlan. That happened a lot in the first half, not so much since the break.

Goalkeepers flying off their line all over the gaff here.

Pablo Fornals tries to chip Jack Bonham from a tight angle after the Gills keeper was caught out. And then West Ham's Lukasz Fabianski comes out of his box to stop an attack.

Not one of the more likely players to get booked for diving. Pablo Zabaleta breaks into the box, feels a brush from Thomas O'Connor and throws himself to the ground. Booked.

Gillingham are getting Mark Marshall ready. The 33-year-old Jamaican winger has yet to score in 22 games since joining in the summer.

Gillingham surely need to make some subs. Steve Evans doesn't look happy on the touchline. My colleagues are excitedly discussing his gilet.

It was Pablo Zabaleta's goal but owed much to quality from from Felipe Anderson. You have to say Gillingham have started to look jaded. They haven't been the same as in the first half. You would expect that. West Ham have grown in the game.

    Gillingham 0-1 West Ham

Gillingham have a chance to level immediately as Brandon Hanlan controls a long ball on his chest and blasts a rocket off the crossbar...

    ...but the flag goes up.

That would have been agonising if it had gone in and been disallowed.

    Pablo Zabaleta

West Ham have the breakthrough and it's Pablo Zabaleta's first goal for the club.

Felipe Anderson finds Arthur Masuaku down the left, his cross is miskicked by Pablo Fornals and it goes through to Zabaleta, who smashes the bouncing ball home.

Declan Rice is back on now with a new bloodless shirt. You can see the scar next to his eye but it must have stopped bleeding.

Play continues with Declan Rice off the pitch getting patched up. Stitches maybe.

  14. Postpublished at 72 mins

West Ham midfielder Declan Rice is getting treatment. He's bleeding above the eye - he got an arm to the face. Gillingham players are taking this chance to have a drink and a breather.

    Gillingham 0-0 West Ham

Gillingham haven't made a sub yet. I wonder whether their players have the legs to do another 20 minutes like this.

  16. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 70 mins

    Gillingham 0-0 West Ham

West Ham bring on Pablo Fornals. Robert Snodgrass, who has been pretty quiet, is replaced.

More and more spaces opening up in Gillingham's defence now. Arthur Masuaku carries the ball 50 yards for West Ham without being tackled but he eventually loses the ball.

I think that sums up Arthur Makuaku's performance.

The ball drops to West Ham's Arthur Masuaku 20 yards out and his hopeless shot is well off target.

  20. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 67 mins

    Gillingham 0-0 West Ham

West Ham want a penalty for a Thomas O'Connor shirt pull on Declan Rice.

No VAR in this game - although there has been in some of the other games.

A replay shows his shirt was pulled. I think VAR would give that...
