If Russia can show the composure that they did for the goal, they can score again in the second half. They've got to relax.

    Finland 0-1 Russia

This is the first time Russia find themselves ahead at half time in a European Championship game since 2012 vs Poland (went on to draw 1-1).

Russia have never lost a Euros game when leading at the break (P5 W4 D1).

Finland do carry a threat, they're happy to carry the ball, they've got that quick change of pace. I think Russia could change things up and go more defensive to make sure they win the game.

  4. 'Pure quality' from Miranchukpublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 16 June 2021

    Finland 0-1 Russia

    Alex Scott
Former England and Arsenal defender on BBC One

Miranchuk's goal was that final bit of quality that we were waiting for. It was such a well-taken goal and you can see he's got that quality and composure when it falls for him. Look how many white shirts there are, but the ability to cut inside, keep a calm head, see where the keeper is and put it in the back of the net. It's just pure quality.

Three teams on three points. It's pretty tight in Group B as it stands.

    Finland 0-1 Russia

The whistle goes for half time and it is advantage Russia thanks to that superb Aleksei Miranchuk finish just before the break.

  9. CLOSE!published at 45+4 mins

    Finland 0-1 Russia

Artem Dzyuba puts a header straight at Lukás Hrádecky as Russia immediately go on the attack again.

Finland need to keep their focus here as there's still a few minutes before half time and a second now would be a real blow to their hopes.

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on BBC One

Finally Russia show some quality in that final third. Miranchuk has got that quality left foot. He gets it onto that left foot and digs it out. It's a wonderful finish. There's hardly any room there at all but he drags it back and find the corner. It's the first bit of quality we've seen from Russia in the first half. Its a wonderful finish.

He has that bit of composure Russia have been lacking. He doesn't hit it hard, he just clips it into that top corner, goalkeeper has no chance. It's a brilliant finish.

    Aleksey Miranchuk

    Great finish!

A moment of quality as the Russia pressure finally tells. Aleksey Miranchuk plays a one-two with Artem Dzyuba inside the box before scooping a delightful strike into the far corner. He couldn't have placed it any better.

Huge roars from the home fans and a huge blow for Finland.

They look so edgy, Russia, they're forcing it. Golovin gets it on the edge of the box, he should pull the trigger. He overruns it and Finland clear their lines.

What a ball that was, that is basically saying 'Just put me in the net.'

He takes a boot in the face for it, but you won't see a better cross than that in the tournament. That's got to be a goal.

  19. Postpublished at 40 mins

    Finland 0-0 Russia

This is the longest wait for a shot on target in a game at Euro 2020 so far.

Despite that, this has been a well contested game. Far from a snoozefest.

I think Uronen gets a boot to the head. Karavaev catapults off the post and back comes the leg into his face. Brilliant defending and gets a boot in the face for his troubles. That is total commitment and typifies the way Finland are defending. I sincerely hope he's able to carry on because that looks really quite bad. It was totally accidental.
