Joe Rodon says Wales are expecting to face an improved Turkey in Baku as their Group A opponents will be buoyed by a partisan crowd.

Turkey were beaten 3-0 by group favourites Italy in Rome on Friday and are bottom of the group after Wales' 1-1 draw with Switzerland, last Saturday.

Around 35,000 Turkish fans are expected inside the Olympic Stadium in Baku today, compared to a few hundred Welsh supporters.

There are Turkey fans everywhere you look in Baku. As well as those who have travelled from Turkey, Azerbaijani citizens consider themselves to be of the same nationality.

I've been speaking to one Turkey fan, Mustafa Halis Kokcu Ozcan, who has travelled to the Azeri capital from London.

His nephew, Orkun Kokcu, is in the Turkey squad tonight and, to further illustrate how interchangeable the two countries consider each other, Orkun's older brother Ozan is a former Azerbaijan U21 international.

"We have cultural and historic ties, and we have a motto: 'Two states, one nation'," says Mustafa, who went to university in Aberystwyth.

"I think Turkey will have a big advantage tonight, and we'll have the weather advantage too. We're used to the heat and it always rains in Wales!"

Turkey make two changes from their 3-0 opening defeat against Italy last Friday.

Kaan Ayhan replaces Juventus' Merih Demiral at centre-back, while Cengiz Under comes in for Yusuf Yazici in midfield.

At Euro 2016, Wales fans were known as the Red Wall.

Is today a must win game for Wales?

With a trip to Rome to face group favourites Italy still to come, today's match serves as their best chance to pick up the three points which would likely see them through to the knockout stages.

After a disappointing defeat to Roberto Mancini's side last time out, Turkey need to bounce back quickly if they're to reignite their Euro 2020 hopes.

Today is a decisive fixture in Group A for Turkey and Wales, a game both sides really need to win.

Wales, buoyed by their 1-1 draw with Switzerland, remain in Baku to face a Turkish side thrashed 3-0 by Italy.

However, the fans are likely to be a big factor today.

Only 8,000 or so were in attendance last time out, but this afternoon thousands of Turkish fans will travel across border and make this effectively a home game for Senol Gunes' side.

Also, don't forget, Italy face Switzerland in Rome tonight, which will further set the picture in Group A.
