Belgium have managed only one attempt in the first half of a match under Roberto Martinez for only the second time.

The only other game was his very first in charge (against Spain in 2016).

Goosebumps from the national anthem, the emotion of the goal celebration and the performance as well, what a team - if you're looking for role models and all that kind of stuff, it has been a joy to watch Denmark play.

But if you take out what has happened, which is difficult, and look at it purely from a football perspective, Belgium have been shocking, Denmark have won all the individual battles, Belgium have been giving the ball away unnecessarily.

Denmark have been superb.

Paolo Brand: An excellent half for Denmark, but how bad have Belgium been? We’re surely in for a pulsating second after the roasting Martínez is gonna give his team!

It's going to be electric in the second half, what a start from Denmark. What better way to start in that manner, aggressive, get the early goal and dominate the whole game. This Belgium side, who are ranked number one in the world, are playing like they're running in quicksand, they haven't turned up, they've been poor.

But it's all about Denmark, credit to the players and staff, what a start.

Will we see Kevin de Bruyne soon? You'd imagine so.

The half-time whistle goes and Denmark's players are applauded off by their fans.

One minute added on, Belgium have one last attack.

Belgium are ending the half with some decent play... is what I am writing when Martin Braithwaite has a chance to make it 2-0.

The Barcelona forward runs down the right, cuts in and then screws his shot wide.

Yannick Carrasco's free-kick from the right, I don't even know what it was. I think it's a cross but it's swinging out and nobody gets near it.

Simon Kjaer stops a Belgium attack but then Denmark try to play their way out and commit a foul on Romelu Lukaku.

A bit of a lull now. Belgium would just like to get this to half-time.

Sid Dodia: Denmark playing like they are the No.1 ranked team and Belgium like not even in top 100. With every attack they come forward they seem like scoring.

Romelu Lukaku needs support around him - we haven't seen enough of Yannick Carrasco and Dries Mertens, they're not helping him. Those two players in particular because they're not going forwards it means there's a lot of pressure on the back line.

That's the weakness of the Belgium side because they are aging - I hate to bring age up but with the intensity that Denmark are playing at you can see it.

Denmark are in red. Belgium are in white. With the way these teams have performed so far I would absolutely believe it was the other way round.

It's 8-1 on shots now.

Another Danish chance. This time Mikkel Damsgaard beats two defenders with a jink on the edge of the box and he guides his 16-yard shot just wide of the far post. The keeper had it covered anyway maybe.

Belgium are fortunate to win another corner. Yannick Carrasco crosses this and Kasper Schmeichel punches away. The first real bit of work he's had to do.
