The Netherlands have opened their Euros campaign with back-to-back wins for the third time.

They did so in 2000 as hosts - before being eliminated in the semi-finals - and 2008, when they fell to Russia in the quarter-finals.

Austria manager Franco Foda: "We gave the ball away too easily in the first half. We invited the Netherlands to hit us on the break too often.

"We got into the final third a few times but didn't get our crosses in. We didn't create enough chances.

"Either we didn't cross or we didn't shoot. We weren't determined enough, we lacked purpose. It wasn't enough going forward."

The Netherlands have scored two or more goals in each of their last nine matches in all competitions, their longest run of doing so since May 1935.

Here's the highlights!

Austria defender David Alaba: "I am proud of the team. We showed courage. We didn't play as we well in the final third as we would have liked. I take responsibility for the penalty. That really hurts.

Team-mate Andreas Ulmer: "All is not lost yet. We still have one more game.

"Mistakes happen, but we still showed that we want to play forward. Today it didn't quite work. But I don't think we need to hide after that."

This was Denzel Dumfries' goal for the Netherlands tonight. He also scored in the win over Ukraine.

Former Netherlands defender Mario Melchiot on BBC Radio 5 Live: "I'm super happy for Denzel Dumfries. The energy he shows as a player...

"What we are seeing from him now is not a surprise, it's not like we are only seeing this from him at a big tournament.

"He is always high energy and has a winning mentality and fighting spirit."

It was comfortable. The Netherlands weren't really pushed all the way. They were solid and created a lot in the first half.

What worries me, because you need to be critical, is that they need to be clinical. You need to take your chances.

What do Austria need?

They need to beat Ukraine to finish second in the group. But as I mentioned earlier, a draw would likely be enough to see them through in third.

They made a slow start to the second half but that aside the Netherlands were excellent and perhaps the only complaint was that they should have scored more.

For Austria, it was a disappointing performance as they didn't have the quality to pick the holes in the defence the Dutch were leaving at the back

There was nothing from Austria this evening they were really poor - I would have liked to see them come and have a go. I couldn't believe Austria stuck with that high line, they should've been punished three or four times. Any Netherlands player who was a bit brave was going to get in behind.

The Netherlands are through. Ukraine and Austria play each other on Monday with a draw probably enough for both.

The Netherlands have cruised through this, it's been too easy for them at times. They could definitely go up a few gears.

Really good night's work from this Dutch side, showed some real quality. Georginho Wijnaldum was brilliant alongside Frenkie de Jong. Austria missed Marko Arnautovic this evening.

The Netherlands are through as winners of the group. A good night for them.

Georginio Wijnaldum almost gets a shot away on the edge of the box but he holds it up for as long as possible as Martin Hinteregger does really well to nick it off him after four or five attempts.

Georginio Wijnaldum pulls off a really clever dummy and is about to race through but he slips at the wrong moment.

He slams the grass in frustration. He would have been in!

Matthijs de Ligt has got some cramp. He's just come back from a groin injury.
