Sterling cannot get a shot away and cannot find team-mate Phil Foden with his pass either.

The skipper turns on the edge of the box onto his left boot and he would usually burst the net for Tottenham, but scuffs a shot which is blocked by Grant Hanley.

It really opened up for him there.

Looking at that front four, there's just not enough happening. I could understand if Gareth Southgate thinks in the next five minutes he needs to change it.

They're having a lot of possession but there's nothing happening.

Ooh, that was so close to breaking for Che Adams in front of goal.

Lyndon Dykes breaks free and has a strike which hits John Stones on the back and falls for Adams, but the Southampton man cannot sort his feet out and the opportunity is lost.

It's a great pick out from Harry Kane. James just comes onto it nicely, but just needs to keep his head over it. His first touch maybe lets him down a little bit. A chance goes begging.

And nearly the breakthrough.

Harry Kane drops out wide to see the ball having been starved of it up front.

He rolls the ball across the box for Reece James to leather a strike narrowly over the angle.

All of the play is in front of the Scotland backline, that will suit them just fine thank you.

Scotland have started very slowly but they're just coming back into the game now.

England passing the ball around crisply into feet, Phil Foden's flat cross is cleared and the Three Lions come again.
