  1. Post update

    Italy 1-0 Austria

Austria are hurrying everything up now. Italy are slowing everything down.

Can the Austrians find something, from somewhere? They still have time.

  2. Post update

    Italy 1-0 Austria

    Chris Sutton

Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

What a wonderful piece of skill from Chiesa.

The first touch with his head is sublime, the second touch sets up the shot and bang. It's a wonderful finish.

  3. Post update

    Italy 1-0 Austria

    Danny Murphy

Former England midfielder on BBC One

We've talked about the importance of the subs didn't we. It's a really good ball from Spinazzola. Look at that . It's difficult to bring down, he just touches it back onto his left foot and look at that for technique. Clinical wasn't it? Crisp and clean on the laces. Beautiful strike from the substitute. Mancini's thinking why didn't I bring him on earlier.

  4. SUBSTITUTION

    Italy 1-0 Austria

Marko Arnautovic is off for Austria. He's had a good game. On comes the tall figure of Sasa Kalajdzic.

    A target man?

  5. GOAL - Italy 1-0 Austria

    Federico Chiesa

What a finish this is from Italy substitute Federico Chiesa.

It's lifted into him by Leonardo Spinazzola, he nods it down, touches it past Konrad Laimer then smashes it past the keeper from close range.

Touch, control, finish. That might have just sent Italy into the quarter-finals.

  6. Post update

    Italy 0-0 Austria

    Ooooh. Nice from Italy.

Federico Chiesa drags the shot a little though and it's comfortable for the keeper.

It was nicely built-up on the edge of the box.

  7. Post update

    Italy 0-0 Austria

    Danny Murphy

Former England midfielder on BBC One

I'm thinking that Italy have to improve. I was really shocked by their second half performance. Maybe there's some tiredness out there after the intensity they played in the group stages. I'd expect Italy to do better and at least try and attack more and get on the front foot. But Austria deserve credit and have played well. Some of their performances have been heroic.

  8. Post update

    Italy 0-0 Austria

Austria have a free-kick but Martin Hinteregger has fouled in the box as David Alaba whips it in.

  9. Post update

    Italy 0-0 Austria

    Micah Richards

Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Very disappointed in Italy, I know they've tried to make some changes, but as a whole they've been very disappointing. This is not the Italy that we've seen in the group stages.

Austria deserve some credit for the way they've defended.

Mark Burt: You sense the Azzurri thought this would be a cake walk. With 11 wins on the bounce they should be confident but this is knock out football and doubts can creep in.

  11. KICK-OFF

    Italy 0-0 Austria

Off we go for a third time. If it's still 0-0 after extra-time, we're into penalties.

  12. Post update

    ET: Italy 0-0 Austria

    Chris Sutton

Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Really disappointing performance by Italy in the second half, all the credit has to go to Austria.

They had the ball in the net and Arnautovic was just offside, but they've showed so much courage and they're the side going into extra-time that will have the belief.

  13. 'Knockout football changes players'

    ET: Italy 0-0 Austria

    Rio Ferdinand

Former England defender on BBC One

Listen, in the group stages we said before Italy have been the most impressive team. It shows you knockout football brings different feelings. It makes players think differently, it creates feelings of doubt sometimes especially as the game goes on. It really changes your mindset and it's a great example today.

  14. Post update

    ET: Italy 0-0 Austria

    Coin toss time.

We're about to get extra-time under way.

  15. 'It's do or die'

    ET: Italy 0-0 Austria

    Jurgen Klinsmann

Former Germany head coach on BBC One

Austria grew more and more, and started to believe they could score. They won battles in midfield and the backline is playing the game of their lives. A new tournament starts in the knockout stage. It doesn't matter what happened in the group stage. It's do or die now.

  16. 'Austria were without doubt the better team'

    ET: Italy 0-0 Austria

    Alan Shearer

Former England striker on BBC One

Austria were without doubt the better team in that second half. They had more energy, there was more zip in their passing. They made Italy look really slow and sluggish and I thought they were unlucky to have the goal disallowed. They were on the front foot and passing the ball with pace and were much the better team I thought.

  17. Post update

    ET: Italy 0-0 Austria

Italy's Giorgio Chiellini is with the squad on the pitch as Roberto Mancini gives them some final instructions.

Austria are geeing themselves up. They need to keep pushing.
