Let's not play to the result. Seven clear chances in extra time. Up until full time you can say Switzerland defended well after 90 minutes they defended badly. Seven clear chances but we didn't have a clinical finisher.

We are not better than this, this is it. You have got a team that cannot score goals and concedes goals. A team that sometimes feels like it's the brightest in the world and other times we are so plain and so scared.

It was enjoyable to see we are growing into the tournament and that football is giving something to Unai Simon, something that he didn't expect after Croatia.

But we are into the semi-finals, see you in Wembley!

Sho: Big up to Switzerland. Played France and Spain back to back. Went down to 10 and still defended brilliantly.

Anon: Feel for Switzerland- injury, deflection, red card, losing in the lottery of penalties. Very unlucky.

I wouldn't say Spain got away with one today, they was in control of the game for long periods. It's just the edge they need. They created so many chances but you can't get keep missing those chances because you will get bitten in the backside.

  19. 'So many nerves'published at 19:46 British Summer Time 2 July 2021

FT: Switzerland 1-1 Spain (1-3 on pens)

    Dion Dublin
Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

The amount of quality in those penalties was really clear to see that there was so many nerves. The penalties weren't great but the last penalty was really convincing.

The Swiss did well, you can only defend for so long. The Spanish have made it very difficult for themselves tonight, but they have made it through to the next round which is where they wanted to be. If they want to go any further they will need to be better.
