Oh, Leonardo Bonucci is a lucky, lucky boy. He takes a touch too many and has the ball taken off him on halfway with his team-mates committed. The referee bails him out, awarding a free-kick for what is pretty light contact on the defender.

Save! Federico Chiesa sees an effort pushed away by Thibaut Courtois.

Lukaku really should score. He hangs his left foot out to connect with the ball but it lacks conviction. Leonardo Spinazzola positions himself well to block. Wow.

HOW?! Italy survive, but I repeat: how?!

Jeremy Doku finds Kevin de Bruyne, who's low cross looks perfect to be slotted home at the back post. A mix of a poor touch, some solid defending and just simple bad luck prevents the ball finding the net.

We've had an hour. A wonderful, action-packed hour.

I wish I had more hands to be able to fire more entries at you waxing lyrical about some of the play on show. The touch of some of these players. Proper pillow feet.

The flag is up as Lorenzo Insigne chips over. Good defensive discipline from Belgium.

The pace of Doku is electric. He wanted Lukaku to get to that near post but it just can't get through the bodies. He's got the beating of his defender there all ends up.

Jorginho goes down in the box after a challenge by Kevin de Bruyne. No penalty. I think he was looking for it. But De Bruyne made a bit of contact with the man and not the ball.

VAR will inevitably check it, but there's no change in the decision.

It is wung in towards Federico Chiesa but he is beaten by his marker. It's a throw on the far side to keep the pressure alive.

It is full on this game. Now Italy have a corner.

Doku's pace is a real threat. The corner is taken short and then fed to the winger, who darts into the box and forces Italy into evasive action.

Belgium having a good moment here. They have a corner.

The ball Belgium are looking for is that cutting pass from Kevin de Bruyne to Romelu Lukaku. They've not found it yet, but not through lack of trying.

What is also great about Italy is the work-rate. Lorenzo Insigne underlines this by tracking back to nick the ball off Thomas Meunier's toes.

When Italy are in full flow, they are absolute dynamite.

Giovanni Di Lorenzo's pass splits Belgium open for an attack that ends with Federico Chiesa slicing a shot wide from a right-wing cross.

So quick, so incisive. Just lacking that clinical finish.

I mean, the cross was leathered at him, to be fair.
