As a neutral, this would be the worst result possible. England have been the most turgid, boring team in the tournament. They're a Greece but everyone keeps talking about them like they're a Spain. At least after that awful decision, no English fan on any phone in or social media platform can complain about VAR (or diving) ever again.

Micah Richards
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live
How many times have England over the years not had that little bit of luck? Today they've got the luck. Yes we don't want to win by a dubious penalty decision but at the end of the day, if that takes us to a final, you know we've got to take it.

Josh Hammond: Did Sterling go down easily? Yes. Was there contact though? Yes. Penalty. That's one of those ones if it's for you it's a pen. If it's against you it's not. Normally those go against England so I'm happy.
Wayne Ellis: Wasn’t a free-kick for their goal, wasn’t a penalty for our second. One terrible decision each
