  2. 'A good win for us'published at 14:53 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2020

    FT: Brentford 0-1 Leicester

    Leicester City

Leciester manager Brendan Rodgers speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "I thought the first 25 minutes we were very good but we were then loose in our passing. We didn't have enough precision which could have scored more goals and then obviously we let Brentford back into the game a little bit more.

"They are a good side, they play well so you know you are always going to have to defend well away from home. But the concentration of the players was first class, the attitude in the game was brilliant and we finished with off with good save in the end by Danny Ward.

"So it was a good win for us and gets us into the next round."

Brentford hit the post as they press for an equaliser

Leicester defender Christian Fuchs talking to BBC Match of the Day: "Kel [Kelechi Iheanacho] scored the early goal which helped our game. They are doing well in the Championship so we knew was it going to be a fight. They had chances but it was a professional performance and we are happy with the win.

"We take the cups really seriously. We have got a chance to get to the final of the Carabao Cup, with the semi-final against Aston Villa to come. But the Premier League and the FA Cup have a priority as well. We have got off to a good start in FA Cup, long may it continue."

Iheanacho gives Leicester an early lead

Leicester goalscorer Kelechi Iheanacho talking to BBC Match of the Day: "We are happy to get the win today and go to the next round. There was a lot of pressure from them.

"It is very important as a team and as a group of players. We worked really hard to the end and stood our ground. I was a bit nervous because they kept coming. We defended well and in the end we got the win and are through."

  9. 'Brentford were a threat'published at 14:42 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2020

    FT: Brentford 0-1 Leicester

    Pat Nevin
Former Chelsea and Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Maybe there are other gears Leicester could have gone through, other players on the bench they could have gone to. But you've got to look at that Brentford side - they were a danger, they were a threat and had they had their normal strike force up front today, you wouldn't have been surprised if they'd got at least a draw.

My highlight of the match though was John spilling his coffee. He'd taken two sips of about half a pint and the rest is down his trousers. They're absolutely wrecked.

    Alan Shearer
Former Newcastle and England striker on BBC Match of the Day

If Brentford had just had that little bit of quality in the final third, they would have been through to the next round because that is all they lacked.

  13. 'Just about done enough'published at 14:38 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2020

    FT: Brentford 0-1 Leicester

    Pat Nevin
Former Chelsea and Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

They've killed it really well, Leicester. A bit of game management was needed and they've sorted it out. They've got lots of experienced players and they haven't been great in the second half, but they've just about done enough.

Unlucky for Brentford, you just wonder what their first team would have done - but they played really nice football. This is a difficult place to come.

Huge boos ring out from the Main Stand as Coventry's players emerge to warm-up in front of the Tilton Stand where Blues fans normally sit but has today been taken over by Sky Blues fans.

St Andrew's is filling quickly for this bizarre occasion as tenants Coventry host their stadium landlords Birmingham.

The St Andrew's press box is a tight squeeze at the best of times. Today's tie has attracted lots of media attention and we're packed in like sardines.

    Jermaine Jenas

They have just done enough. It's as simple as that. The structure of Leicester is what has got them through the game. They have looked solid throughout.
