Cardiff City have invited fans to pay tribute to Emiliano Sala on the first anniversary of the plane crash in which the Argentine striker died.

Sala was flying to Cardiff from Nantes when the plane he was in crashed into the English Channel on 21 January 2019.

The Bluebirds say fans can lay wreaths at the Fred Keenor statue at Cardiff City Stadium.

Nantes are planning a commemorative shirt to raise funds for the Argentine clubs Sala, 28, played for.

As it stands, this scoreline would lift Stoke four points clear of the drop zone, if they can hold on to this in the remaining 45 minutes.

There's the half-time whistle and Stoke have a one-goal lead thanks to their only shot of the game.

Championship leaders West Brom have had more of the possession but have a lot of work to do in the second half.

From the right, just outside the box, West Brom's Matheus Pereira curls a left-footed free-kick around the wall and towards the far corner... But it's just wide. Jack Butland probably had it covered, in truth. But it was a decent free-kick. He struck it well and kept it low.

There'll be a minimum of four minutes added on at the end of this first half, which accounts for the injuries suffered earlier by Grady Diangana and Tyrese Campbell.

Meanwhile, the Baggies' Kyle Bartley is booked for a foul on Sam Clucas, moments before Stoke's Joe Allen gets a yellow himself for a late one on Hal Robson-Kanu.

West Brom have had possession in the Stoke half non-stop for a three-minute period... But they can't turn their pressure in to a chance to shoot, and eventually the move breaks down.

Matt Phillips finds room just outside the box to curl a powerful strike at goal from the left. It's moving at a serious pace, but it's just over the bar.

That might well be the Baggies' best effort of the game so far.

We've not got VAR in the Championship, of course. With it, you could easily see Matheus Pereira getting an early bath for that. Lucky boy.

Off the ball, Stoke's Joe Allen goes down as if he's been shot and clutches his face. He was jostling for position with Matheus Pereira. Was Allen just acting, or was there something in that?

Well, replays show Pereira's elbow clearly striking Allen on the chin! It's nasty.

The West Brom man is lucky to stay on the pitch. Referee Tim Robinson can't have seen it. He gives both players a talking to.

This game is averaging less than one effort at goal every 10 minutes, so far. It's not been a classic.

Stoke’s fans have been in good voice ever since that early goal from Tyrese Campbell.

Needless to say, apart from one inevitable chorus of ‘is this is a library’, their old classic ‘Delilah’ has been getting top billing in their play list.

The Albion fans will be forgiven for thinking ‘Why, why, why’ this son of a former Albion striker - Kevin Campbell - should choose tonight to score.

But it’s actually his fifth goal of the season (all in the last 10 games) and every time he’s scored, the Potters have won.

Maybe the fact that he’s now limped off injured will be a turning point?

Liam Lindsay gets the game's first booking as he cynically rugby-tackles West Brom's Kenneth Zohore to the ground. No complaints.

From the resultant free-kick, the hosts creep offside.

The ball pings around the box from the free-kick and Stoke don't deal with it... Eventually Matheus Pereira's header from four yards out goes straight at keeper Jack Butland. That was a decent chance for the hosts, if a little scrappy.

Tyrese Campbell hobbles off. That's a shame for him, after his early goal. Lee Gregory comes on up front instead for the visitors.

Now, that Baggies free-kick... Here it comes...

Tyrese Campbell is down receiving treatment. Has he done his hamstring there? Maybe.

Sam Clucas, meanwhile, annoyed that West Brom weren't kicking the ball out of play to allow the physios on to help Campbell, concedes a free-kick in a dangerous position.

They've also had the only shot on target of the opening 20 minutes of this game, which was Tyrese Campbell's ninth-minute goal.

You'd have to say, Stoke have been the better side so far.

They're winning all the second balls. They're getting stuck in. They're up for the fight tonight.

The Baggies, somewhat uncharacteristically, keep giving the ball away in the midfield. They concede possession again, this time needlessly from a simple throw-in, and the home fans are getting agitated at this.

Stoke fans won't be counting their chickens just yet... The Baggies have earned a Championship-high 21 points from losing positions this season.

Incidentally, the Potters have picked up 13, the second-highest tally.
