Fair play to Tommy Wright, I can totally understand what he's thinking, I'm going to have a go while we're at home. People always say 'go and have a go at the Old Firm' but this is one of those games where it's proven if you open up they can give you a doing, it doesn't matter what system you play.

  13. 'Celtic approach spot on from the first minute'published at 20:42 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2020

    HT: St Johnstone 0-3 Celtic

    Martin Dowden

There has been a dip in intensity since the third goal, a welcome dip for St Johnstone who looked set for an even more excruciating night.

They managed to stem the tide to a degree but if Celtic return with the purpose they brought at the start then it could easily be same again in the second half.

It is hard to determine whether the home side could have done much to stop this given Celtic’s quality tonight.

A different shape? Different personnel? It may have made a difference but, unlike Saturday, Celtic were entirely on their game from the first minute.

It seems a case of how many and whether Neil Lennon wants to give game time to his bench.

  14. Now it's 30 goals to zip...published at 20:40 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2020

    HT: St Johnstone 0-3 Celtic

Celtic scored five against St Johnstone in February 2019; six in October 2018; seven on the first day of the current season. Perth manager Tommy Wright discussed them all with BBC Scotland's Tom English before this match."Aye, 27 goals to zip," he said of the prior eight games between the sides.

On the evidence of the first half, that record is not going to look any prettier after this contest.

The tempo, the sharpness, the passing, the movement. Everybody is flying today, everybody is looking for the ball and moving it with their one, two-touch passing with real excitement. A brilliant performance from Celtic so far.

  16. HALF-TIME Rangers 1-0 Ross Countypublished at 20:34 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2020

Steven Gerrard was hoping to see a major reaction after his side's 2-1 defeat at Tynecastle on Sunday and, although his team go in to the break in front, they haven't exactly been at their very best.

Ryan Kent had a superb chance to open the scoring 10 minutes in to the game but his shot was saved well by Nathan Baxter. There were half-chances for Sheyi Ojo and Scott Arfield before Jermain Defoe pulled a goal out of nowhere just before the break.

Rangers in front by a solitary goal against a hard-working Ross County side.

  17. HALF-TIME St Johnstone 0-3 Celticpublished at 20:33 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2020

Three goals inside the first 26 minutes have put Celtic firmly in control.

The visitors have simply blown St Johnstone away with their pace and slick passing and really should have had a few more goals.

Olivier Ntcham, James Forrest and Leigh Griffiths are the men on the scoresheet for Neil Lennon's utterly dominant side.

I bet Celtic can't believe how much room they have in midfield. Brown, McGregor, Ntcham are all finding space as St Johnstone don't have the numbers in there, it's as simple as that.
