This game is pretty much over as a contest and the pace has dipped significantly as we approach the interval. There will be a few tired and bewildered Saints players in need of a breather in the home dressing room.

I tell you what, 7-0 at the start of the season, it could be going the same way tonight as Celtic are so totally dominant. Tommy Wright is probably down there thinking 'what do I do?'

St Johnstone are totally dumbstruck. They're rabbits in the headlights, they really are. But you can't take away from Celtic; the quality, the goals, the passing.

  4. CLOSE!published at 20:16 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2020

    Rangers 0-0 St Johnstone

Rangers again come close to breakig the deadlock at Ibrox as a free-kick on the left of the Ross County box leads to a stramash in front of Nathan Baxter's goal. The ball bobbles out to Scott Arfield, but his half-volley is deflected wide for a corner.

    St Johnstone 0-2 Celtic

    Martin Dowden

It has been a fabulous display so far from Celtic. They have taken the game by the scruff of the neck and already seem certain for the three points.

Right from the off, the tempo has been high and chances have flowed. They should be further ahead.

It feels like a home game for the visitors with away fans almost filing three quarters of the stadium. That’s maybe not helping but the gap in quality is there for all to see.

  8. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:09 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2020

    St Johnstone 0-2 Celtic

Kristoffer Ajer slides into a crunching challenge with Liam Gordon and Leigh Griffiths is first to the loose ball inside the Saints' penalty area. He powers in a rising shot and Zander Gordon has to look lively to palm it away.

    James Forrest

James Forrest likes these games at McDiarmid Park. He got four in one game here last season and now he's doubled the visitors' lead.

The winger is confronted by Scott Tanser on the right edge of the box and he touches the ball wide of the defender before smashing an angled shot into the opposite corner of the net.

Another routine save for Fraser Forster as Saints midfielder Ali McCann tries to loop a controlled shot over the top of the giant keeper from the edge of the box.

Better from the home side now...

Celtic continue to press in search of a second goal, although the breathless pace has relented a little. Wing-backs Greg Taylor and James Forrest are so high up the pitch.

A much-needed lift for the home side as Michael O'Halloran drives into the penalty area from the left and has a pop at goal. Comfortable save for Fraser Forster.

It was a wonderful goal from Celtic. We talked about that link up play between Edouard and Griffiths and it was there in abundance, lovely little interchanging play to send Forrest down the right and there was Ntcham running in beyond the strikers to put in a powerful header

  14. GREAT SAVE!published at 19:56 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2020

    Rangers 0-0 Ross County

The home side come close to opening the scoring at Ibrox as Ryan Kent runs down the left wing and fires a shot right at goal but Ross County keeper Nathan Baxter gets a strong hand to it and parries it away.

  15. CLOSE!published at 19:56 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2020

    St Johnstone 0-1 Celtic

It's one-way traffic. Zander Clark is covered in mud already and we're not even 10 minutes in. This time the keeper is at full stretch as a shot from Callum McGregor fizzes inches wide.

  16. GREAT SAVE!published at 19:55 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2020

    St Johnstone 0-1 Celtic

Celtic are in the mood for a second goal as Zander Clark beats away a powerful shot from Greg Taylor and the follow-up from Leigh Griffiths is blocked by a defender in blue. Clark is busy again moments later, fending off a horrible slice from team-mate Liam Gordon.

    Olivier Ntcham

It's mesmeric stuff from the visitors as a series of flicks and first-time passes culminates with James Forrest swinging in a delivery from the right and here comes Olivier Ntcham to power the ball home with a thumping header.

    St Johnstone 0-0 Celtic

The Saints defence is static as Greg Taylor loops a deep cross in from the left. Leigh Griffiths is all alone as he meets it with a header. He doesn't even need to jump, but he steers the ball a fraction wide from eight yards.

An iffy moment for Saints keeper Zander Clark as he spills a low shot from Odsonne Edouard in a muddy goalmouth, but he's up quickly to recover the situation.
