Here we go then! Can Dortmund extend this title race or will Bayern make it a procession once more?

The German love of 80s rock won't change for a pandemic, and should it? Some Van Halen welcomes the sides out as the man on the PA mic reads out the teams to absolutely nobody.

Here come the sides now down the cavernous tunnels of the Westfalenstadion. What an arena, I could not reccomend a trip there more. Not now, obviously.

    You know what I mean.

The fabled yellow wall is just a sea of empty terracing this evening. Hands Bayern another advantage that they didn't need.

Home wins have been scarce since the restart.

Borussia Dortmund v Bayern Munich (17:30 BST)

Speaking of ridiculous stats, Dortmund have scored from each of their last seven shots on target in the Bundesliga.

This should be about 7-7 all then, with any luck.

Neutrals worldwide are very much on the yellow side of the coin. Nobody wants to see Bayern win this, apart from Bayern fans...

Mario Gotze will leave Borussia Dortmund this summer, sporting director Michael Zorc says.

The forward, 27, has made 201 appearances over two spells with the Bundesliga club, but he has only started five league games this season.

Gotze has won five Bundesliga titles and scored the winner for Germany in the 2014 World Cup final.

"We will part ways with Mario this summer. It was a mutual and respectful decision. He's a great man," said Zorc.

Robert Lewandowski, who was the key man when Dortmund won titles under Jurgen Klopp, has scored 12 goals in the last six meetings of these sides.

    That is ridiculous.

  9. Mr Greedy...published at 17:16 British Summer Time 26 May 2020

Borussia Dortmund v Bayern Munich (17:30 BST)

Bayern Munich head coach Hansi Flick says it is too early to say whether Borussia Dortmund sensation Erling Haaland will be better than Robert Lewandoswki.

The Norwegian teenager has scored 13 goals in 13 games since joining in the January transfer window, and both strikers have a massive 41 goals in 35 games all domestic competitions this season.

“It is his first season, so comparing him is too early,” Flick said of Haaland. “Robert has always been at world-class level in recent years. But Haaland is a huge talent."

“He is a young player, but he has a huge pull to the goal. He just wants to finish. He has an enormous dynamic.

“He is greedy, has an enormous size and is still agile. But we don’t just have to take care of him.”

Both sides won at the weekend - as per - but neither actullay played all that well. Dortmund were a bit flat, if comfortable, while Bayern looked a mess defending corners.

    But still scored five.

As has been the case in every game since the resumption, England forward Jadon Sancho is on the bench for Dortmund.

It's an unchanged side from the XI which beat Wolfsburg at the weekend. Wing-backs Hakimi and Guerreiro were the scorers and are key to the way the team play.

  16. Win or bustpublished at 16:55 British Summer Time 26 May 2020

Borussia Dortmund v Bayern Munich (17:30 BST)

And so it comes to this.

As the Bundesliga title train comes steaming down the track, perennial winners Bayern Munich face one key stopoff on their way to glory.

Which striker will come out on top?

Win in the eerily silent Westfalenstadion this early summer evening and it will surely be title number 30 for the club - and a massive eighth in a row.

But if Dortmund can play at their peak and pick up a win of their own, the lead will be cut to just a single point and it will be all to play for in the final six games of this strange, disrupted campaign.

It promises to be a real classic Der Klassiker...
